if you've seen silverstars next to xtravision bulbs, they put out the same amount of light, it's just that the silverstars put out whiter light.

Take a look at this post on that thread u linked me to:

Sylvania Silverstars
Although the light is a lot whiter, it doesn't look like much of an upgrade to me.

He didn't say anywhere in the article that sylvania silverstars aren't an upgrade, he just stated that you can get equal or greater performance from clear bulbs, and that they're nowhere near the level of the osram silverstars

to Webby, he didn't mean literally blue, there are many "blue" bulbs with blue-bluish tint to them. He's talking about those bulbs vs. clear bulbs. Compare the sylvania silverstars to the osram silverstars as an example, or the sylvania silverstars vs the sylvania xtra vision bulbs.
I agree with you on Nokya and similar products. I've used Nokya, Luminics, Halo, n other various Japanese and Korean products, they all disappointed me in some way shape or form. Not to discredit Japanese or Korean products, but those bulbs were crap. Mostly lack of output and melted harnesses, colors were nice though
You used my picture - COOL...
As I am using silverstar ultras in my car, I can tell you that they seem to be a bit brighter, but they definitely are more white. Because they are more white, they may seem brighter. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

heh sorry i didn't ask, i was using it as an example

Looking at the picture, the ultras are barely as bright as the stock bulbs. that means that the regular silverstars aren't even as bright (the ultras are supposed to be 30% brighter than the regular silverstars) as stock. I think the xtravisions would be better.

i tried sylvania's xtravision, i changed 1 bulb at first (on my old accord)

it was the xtravision vs. sylvania regular halogen. The xtravision was noticeably brighter. Thats not even the best part, people that have used xtravision bulbs say that night hawks, visionplus, etc etc (+50% bulbs) are brighter than the xtravision. Thats why i'm going to try them out.

No problem using the picture - thats why I posted it...
The picture does not do the lights justice. Like I said, they are definitely whiter, which does seem to light up the road better. Weather that is true or not, I am not sure, but for me, I will definitely buy these again.
I guess that adds up to 4 cents now...
Happy New Year!

Those pictures of the road being lit are mine. I installed the Silverstar Ultras and I'm very happy with them. I live out in the boonies and they do light up the road much better then stock.

Also bear in mind that the Silverstar pic was taken about 25 yards further back and the road is still lit up just as good. Not only are they stighly brighter then stock, but they also have more range.

How long they last may be another story, but as mentioned above, they have a 1 year replacemnt warranty.

The Silverstars ARE an upgrade in lighting. Hell I drove home tonight with only one of them working and it lit up the road better than the OEM lights.

That's where I'll stop being so nice, though, as I only drove home with ONE working. I just replaced one only to have the other burn out! They've been in there for 6 months at the maximum!

I had to replace them quite a bit in my '02 SE-R and now I'm having to replace them quite a bit in my Si. I'm sick of them. Sure, they're cheap at the start but I know have over $100 invested in these stupid ass lights and they're still letting me down. The 1-year-warranty is great and all, but it's a hassle to change out lights in this car and I don't care to continue to do it even if I get free lights out of the deal.

Time for alternatives. Avoid these lights if you want a set that works for over 6 months.

Cool,
Good find. How do they compare to stock in your opinion? Did you take before and after pictures? Did you have to modify the housing?

Also, how much did you pay?
One of the main reasons I went with Sylvania Silverstar Ultras is because they were on some kind of super sale at Kragen for $18.88 per pair.

Also, last thing - do you know if those toshiba bulbs exist that fit the honda (oem) fog housing/harness?
Thanks

I haven't actually received them yet, i'll get them on friday. I'll post pics before/after and side by side.

I paid about $25 total from John Deere, you can search this item # AH211917, you'll see that many car forums are switching to them now.

http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=122662

It's used on John Deere 9000 series tractors. I've heard of people getting them as low at $9.99 per bulb shipped. You can probably buy them at your local John Deere dealer.

So far I think they only come in 9012, and 9011 bulbs. They can be made EASILY to fit in 9006 and 9005 lights. the 9012 and 9011 are different because the top tab is larger than on the 9006 and 9005 bulbs. Here's a pic that skiz posted from the HIR bulbs thread:

Silvasta

I have used the Silverstars in 3 cars now. The only problem i had was with the fog lights on my Ranger. They would go out in month. I had no problems with them in the headlights. They lasted over 2 years. I had them in the focus before the Civic and they lasted over a year. They seem to be brighter than stock and they are definitely mo' sexxy with their bluish-white light.
