I believe you can but I don't think your DRL (Daytime Running Light) will work anymore. Cause its just a bulb that dims to give it that yellow effect... I may be wrong though... Maybe someone else can confirm this for u

HIDs wont run at that low of a wattage like it would with bulbs.

yes you can change them to HIDs. no they will not turn on as a DRL but they will turn on as Highbeams and you will get a DRL light warning in your cluster until you turn on your headlights

why blue...? Autozone probably won't have "blue" light but might have some Sylvania Silverstars that have a little blue tint on it.

for your DRL Light, even if it's rated at 5k-7k, it won't be "really" white due to low voltage.

Most people would change the DRL/high beam to a yellow light such as Nokya 2500k since many like the "yellow" look for the DRL instead of the white.

Is that nokya illegal? I wouldn't think so didn't know how yellow it really was

Most "aftermarket" bulbs are "illegal". I would use the High Beam at night if you swap it to a blue or yellow DRL. The only time I would use the high beam would be in the fog.

You post is dumb. Yes you would use a high beam at night. Yet you say you would use the high beam in the fog? Really smart!!!

OP, just change your DRL to a yellow bulb. most cops won't care much of it unless they're completely anal about their job.

DO NOT use high beams during fog. light reflects off the particles which reduces the effectiveness of light. you'd be better off getting FOG LIGHTS (3000 kelvin will give you the optimum output - most usable light) for driving in FOG, hence, the name.

DO NOT drive using high beams at night unless you're on a deserted road. high beams cause excessive glare and can get you a ticket if a cop spots you driving with them on in the city. it's a danger to other drivers driving the opposite direction.

i find it EXTREMELY funny that a guy from qatar has told someone in the states to learn how to speak english.

it really highlights the education system in the states.
quite disappointing, actually.

wow this thread makes me

Your Highbeam/DRL is a 9005 bulb. Yes you can put HID in it. But you would need to pull the DRL fuse #37 unless you want to look at the DRL warning light on your dashboard. The reason the stock bulb has a dull yellow look to it is because the DRL's run at a lower wattage. If you get a hyperwhite/blue bulb it'd do the same thing just a very slight color difference. Me personally I bought Luminics JDM yellow bulbs and my DRL is a very deep noticeable yellow not the dull ugly stock color.

here are my Luminics JDM yellow drl's/high beam... and also a couple when i had yellow low beams.... which i no longer have the police didn't like that idea....

Everything Off

drl on

High Beams on when i still had yellow low beams

now yellow high beam with a blueish low beam
