Quick DDM Question

On the website, it gives you the option of ordering an error code eliminator and adaptor cables, with the HID kit. What are these and would I need to get them? I'm not replacing stock lights, I already have HIDs installed, just getting a new kit. Also, should I order the HID harness, and whats it used for?

Thanks.

If you want, you can get the relay, but not really necessary.

It's a fuze. The initial surge of power to the bulbs could be too much for the small wiring.

So, if I'm getting the 35w, an HID harness isn't necessary right? I'll just need the bulbs and ballasts?

I just recently bought a ddm 6k 35w set for my si coupe. The installation was fairly simple and mounting the ballasts was no problem. The bulbs and ballasts are all you really need. Good luck with the kit and enjoy, I know i am!

A relay is actually an electrical or mechanical switch, although it most likely has a fuse associated with it. The relay will control a high current circuit with a low current signal, that way you don't burn out your stock wiring. Sounds like 35 w isn't a problem with our stock wiring. 55 W, well you'll have to hear from others. If you have problems with one light turning on or having to turn your lights on a few times to get the bulb to light up, you may need a relay.

Ok, well I plan on running 35w most likely, so I'm not gonna worry about the relay at the moment then.

@Si Ty125, I'm getting the 8000k kit. Probably the slim ballast one.

Another question arose, will I need seperate ballasts for the high beams as well? So in that case, I would have 4 ballasts for both my high/low beam hid's?

^ In general I thought that putting HIDs in your high beams was a bad ideal due to the small transient time during which the bulb is heating up or coming to full power. Thus it would defeat the purpose of high beams.

to answer all the questions.

If you get 35 watt kit, its seriously just plug and play. Just order the normal kit.

If you get the 55 watt kit, your OEM harness is not made to handle that draw, so a relay kit is recommend and sometimes required depening on brand of kit.

The relay kit, supplies power to the HID kit directly from the battery, by using the stock headlight power source as the turn on switch, by using a relay.

The error code eliminator is not need on our cars, but is for cars like GM or euro cars that have a warning light when your bulb is out. Because the HID ballasts run off low amperage (less power) they sometimes cause the car to think the headlights are out, thus the need for the error code eliminator.

Next question, You would need a seperate ballast for each bulb you plan to light up. So for high beams you would need another kit. But I would not suggest this.

Our cars DRL (daytime running lights) run off our high beams at half power. Unless you unplug the DRL fuse, It will cause your hids to run all the time and at half power causing premature failure. Also, you lose the ability to flash your high beams at someone, because its bad to flick hids on and off.

But you can do it. Just wouldn't recommend it. Why alot of people get yellow DRLs, only thing that looks good at half power.

Thanks alot guys for the help. That pretty much cleared it up. I ordered the 35w kit because I'm more interested in my lights looking good, then being extremely bright. (35w is sufficiently bright imo)

About the high beams/drl's...I already have yellow bulbs installed. Therefore my high beams are bright yellow, and my drl's are an amber color. However, one of my bulbs went out, and now I have the drl indicator light on my dash lit up whenever my lights are off and just my drl's are on. When I turn my headlights on, the drl indicator light goes off. So, mix, since you just said we don't have a warning light for a bulb out, im wondering if its not the bulb?? but what else could it be?

^Can you post up a pic??

Also, can someone tell me what wattage our high beams run at? Alot of the bulbs I see on ebay all say 100w, for example these--->http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Box-S...Q5fAccessories
