hids generally run cooler than halogens actually, but if you want alternatives to hids then projectors would be your best bet. keep in mind that projectors can cost upwards of 2-300 easily. with that being said i would go with hids, you can get them off ddm for 35 bucks and most people on here are happy with them. 4300k would be for best visibility i believe, but you can go to 6k an still see alot. xenondepot is also very good from what i hear but there prices are substantially higher. hope it helped

HID lights dont burn significantly warmer than halogens
55Watt kits might but the more common 35Watt kits have been known to actually run cooler like he said DDM is a popular brand that many have good luck with I've had a set for nearly two years and havnt experienced any problems alternatives like sylvania super duper halogens are brighter, but they do run hot and dont have a long life i recommend ddm 5000k 35 watt |

Attachment 35872 Attachment 35873 6000k vs OEM...35 watt ofc. People flash me enough as it is...so with your 55 watt 8000k you'll probably get pulled over for blinding cops Bad pic quality....snowing + droid camera (not the droid x) lol -David

so.. you bought a 55w for the high beam... wth...
It'll throw glare everywhere, light will not be focused at all if it's in the high beam housing. On top of that, you will lose your DRL. 8000k 55w = 6000k basically. |

Hi
I bought HID's for high and low beams. Bought it from Xenondepot. 4300k. I don't have the car here yet. But the Civic SI Mugen will be here soon. High beam HID's is no problem here. There's a lot less traffic here compared to many places. When I have to turn off the high beams they are turned on again before they are cold. So the heating up time is not a problem. Yes I know that turning them on an off like this will shorten the life of the kit. But I have had high beam HID's in my NSX for years with no problem. (I may have shorter life on the civic compared to the NSX as I only use the high beams for a short time as it's winter and darkness from about october. Daylight all night long in the summertime) Loosing the DRL's is not a problem as low beam is the DRL's over here in Norway. Regards Martin in Narvik in Norway Sent from my X10 MPU20 using Tapatalk |
