What are all of you HID owners doing for your DRL / High Beams?

I just put my 6000k pnp HID kit in on friday and as the title states what's everyone doing with their 9005 bulbs? Are you changing them out to 6000k Halogen bulbs or just leaving them? The oem halogen highbeams look hideous when the HIDs are on.

I found 6000k halogen bulbs on ebay. I'm going to try those and see how that looks. I was just wondering if anyone had done it yet and if there were any pics.

your high beam/DRL is a 9005 bulb not a 9007, 9007 are one of those dual filament bulbs i believe.

Im just leaving mine stock for now, i use them so rarely that its not an issue. HID for highbeams would be a bit of a waste unless you frequently drive somewhere where you can just leave them on all the time since they need to warm up. Also flashing HIDs is one of the quickest ways to fry a ballast and or bulb. If you want similar color temperature id suggest getting silver star or HIR bulbs for better intensity, though im not sure how much HIR bulbs will like running as DRLs (someone with more experience on this feel free to chime in)

I stand corrected! I will edit the original post to reflect this. If it's a single filliment bulb then the only option is to go Halogen 6000k bulbs....

Are the HID conversion worth it? How hard are they to install?

the kit isnt that hard to install, especially since i did it with my roommate. We pulled off the front bumper in hopes of taking off the headlights but didnt have a long enough extension for one of the bolts. Its a lot of on your back reaching up to put the bulb in the socket.

It's a simple install and well worth it. I did it without removing the bumper or wheel liner.. It took about an hour and a half.

With my Pnp HID kit, I left the DRL and high beams stock. I rarely use them so I don't mind keeping the OEM bulbs.

If they still light up the road for you, what's the problem? No one should be seeing both of them on at the same time while driving towards you anyways.

Cool. I was gonna leave them stock but after seeing them both on together, I have to make them the same color.

HUH? When you turn on your high beams your lows stay on. the Highs are yellow and the hids white... Looks cheesy.

I know the stay on, but you should be turning off your high beams when other cars come towards you. So no one is going to be seeing them while your driving, unless it's for that split second before you turn them off and I can assure you that probably only 1% of the people who see both of them on for that split second are even going to say, "Wow his lights don't match color.

I got your point the first time, but when both are on, the 2 different colors clash. I'm talking from the drivers point of view. I'm less concerned with how they look to others. Maybe it's just a preference thing.

You could try those blue coated bulbs found on eBay, the color output on the road is about the same. Lighting wise they arn't fantastic, but coupled with HIDs you should be able to see all that you need to.

I used some cheap "JDM" yellow DRL bulbs. Looks a lot better than stock.

just curious, since DRL has a dimmer lighting(lower electrical use) and you wanted to use some blue bulbs, can you see the color? (not high beams)

i have the yellow on my drl and you can see the color a lot more when its on the drl mode. when on highbeam the color sorta gets washed away.

i don't think it's a good idea to change the hi-beams to HID. as you all know, HID's take a while to ignite and warm up. in emergency situations where you need to catch someone's attention with a flash of light, HID's won't be as effective as your regular halogens.
