this might be a stupid question or a question that already has been asked but is it really necessary to have relays for HID's in 8th gen civics? |

ok heres what mines looks like hope it helps...
(this is if you want to install HID without taking off your front bumper) my enginebay ![]() driver side ballast is attached with strong adhesive and a small screw ![]() passenger side ![]() the ballast is attached to the car using the same bolt from my body frame ![]() it is pretty far from the belt so nothing should hit the ballast ![]() *side note* installing the passenger bulb was alot easier than the driver side(had to remove the battery to do this) but both are possible to install without taking off the front tires(what the car manual suggest) i had my sister do it cause she has smaller hands and i am a pretty lazy person as you can tell i didnt take my front bumper off to install

im not really diggin the install... 1st you can see all the ballasts hanging around and can get them wet when cleaning under the hood. I kinda like more the way this DIY showed (the one I used). Hidden from view and from water.... just IMO |

okay just a little experience i had that i would like to share.
So i put in my HID fogs but after i did my left headlight started flickering everytime i hit a bump. So i took the car apart lastnight. and aparently I was becasue the screw that was holding it down was tight so the ballists were moving and was creating a spark. After it finally got it off I found it the ballists was cracked, also the headlight didnt come on anymore, but everything I put it against a grounding point it would light up. So I just got a wire grounded it and then just wrapped it around one of the holes on my ballists and perfecto. =) |

HIDs installed successfully! yay!
Thanks for the DIY. My 2006 civic Si(FG I think) was not laid out like the pictures. I had to use the 10mm bolts that came with my HID kit (same as OP) and mount them horizontally in an available bolt hole, then bend the bracket upwards to avoid the wheel well plastic. No flicker has been noticed yet, however I do get a faint hummmm noise from both ballasts when the lights are turned on. I'm assuming this is normal. I love the HIDs. I'm converting all our other cars too :) Gotta verify the cutoff first, I won't do it if I'm blinding people lol. |

I installed my K-LIGHTS yesterday and they were really easy to install thanks to this thread. My friend got a Evo X and he was quite impressed with the quality (I wouldnt know since I'm a n00b. I had one question though.. my brother has an 08 honda accord sedan and he wants to invest in the same HIDS. would the relay be required in his car?
