I was thinking the same thing, that is about calling the dealer and asking a service tech about this scenario. It can't hurt, I don't have to disclose who I am. I will let you know what I am told.

HID Retrofits won't affect the manufacturer's warranty

Just don't expect a dealer to troubleshoot a bad ballast or ground for free for you, or replace a bad bulb.

You have nothing to hide by having an HID retrofit nor do you have to bring it up.

The only issue might be some lip from a Tech or service writer that does not have the most up to date information on current HID ballast technology, and tries to give you a ration of "these ballasts draw too much current and will burn up your wiring" crap. As long has you have the latest Chinese equipment, just shoot back that these puppies have a maximum inrush current of under 8 amps and are perfectly safe.

^ Would that be good for our civics? It says 12volt, 50 Watts. I seen others have 35 Watts... such as the 6000k kit. Will the 50 watts work? I want 5000k... which is what that link links to.

blah... it's not as cheap as the 6000k kit.

Get a 35 watt 5000 or 6000K kit. That will give you a nice blue white light, and will work just fine in your cars electrical system.

Does anyone know about D2Rs that are rebased? Do they throw light better with no projector?

...i'd be weary of those. Rebasing could mean they are off alignment bulb to base. or they may end up too far forward or back in the housing...at least that's the case with 9006s that are rebased for D2S..for the most part..IMO

Just ordered up a set of these bad boys tonight. Had a horrible time deciding between 6000K and 8000K but settled on the 6000K for 2 reasons - less likely to attract attention from the cops and potential issues seeing in the rain. Hopefully I made the right choice! Can anybody say whether the different HID kits (ranging from cheap to too expensive) end up looking any differently, or is the only downside to the cheaper kits just the fact that they're more likely to break?

There are even some kits on there for 66 bucks, but I think I might stick with the ones Orient Express picked up...

Edit, just found some for 105 with free shipping...and look at the feedback! What do you guys think? These are made in Korea...

And a Japanese system for the same price...

Nice seeing those prices drop. . . Wish there were a way to tell which are good and which are wack. Either way, these will def put a squeeze on HIR's enterance to the marketplace.

well if u've read the many threads in here you'll see 60% of the people who have bought a "" hid kit had to get them replaced within the first couple of months and keep on doing so bc it keeps flickering and getting bad ballasts while the rest 40% have nothing but good things to say.
Hit or miss really with ANY aftermarket kit.

i had bought a similar system from www.xenonrider.com/sale.shtml

their set a bit more expensive ($169), but they have blazing fast shipment (ordered on a friday afternoon, arrived monday).

from what i see from pics, the ballast + plugs + bulbs are all identical...
(you know they ALL came from one gigantic HID factory in china...out in different boxes)

ordered a set of 4300K for the OEM stock look...loving them!!!

i thought $169 was worth totally worth the money, but if you can get the same product for $136 shipped, thats even better!!!

but i do recommend www.xenonrider.com/sale.shtml for those who can't wait for shipment from China....!
a lot of ppl gave their thumbs up from 600rr.net forums
