Unless you can use your high beams for an extended amount of time, then HIDs wouldn't be a useful replacement to your actual high beams. You would be turning them on and off too much, shortening the life of the equipment. However, if you travel excessively on back ROADS with no lights and don't have oncoming cars for a long period of time, then high beams might be worth it.

Just be sure not to confuse bright with light output - these terms are not interchangeable. You can throw on a 30,000K HID kit onto your high beams and be spotted from miles away. The trade off you're making in that option is not having any usable light actually being dispersed.

The toughest phase for ballasts is the start-up period because it is drawing more amps than it does while running. Based on this, turning on and off your ballasts repeatedly will greatly reduce the life the ballast. One advantage of a Bi-Xenon setup is the ability to not to turn on and off the ballasts. The setup uses a solenoid to raise a shield on the projector to expose more light, creating a high beam effect.

I tried putting a Set of 8k HID HIGH BEAM bulbs in my 09 SI Sedan and disabled my DRL by pullin fuse 37 and we done the whole plug and play set up for the high beams and they wouldnt work is there anything special i need cause we was using the same manufacture as the low beams and they worked fine with the plug and play. We even tried a relay. So i had to settle for low and fog light HIDs. Somebody please give me some info on what i need to do to get my High beams in HID

Here is all the info you need: Don't do it. The high beam reflectors are not designed for HID bulbs. That goes for the fog lamp reflectors as well.

Excuse my noobness, but after you install the HIDs, do you have to adjust it or anything?

If your low beams were properly adjusted, then No, you do not have to adjust anything.

Bump old thread. Sorry guys, i cbb reading all these responses.

I bought a kaixen PnP kit, and contrary to the advice given by the OP (grounding the ballast), we're given foam tape to ensure the ballast doesn't come into contact with the chassis, i think to prevent it from discharging itself.

I was going to squish up a sponge and stick it in between, but i'm concerend that
a) the sponge might melt if the ballast gets too hot
b) the ballast might spark causing the sponge to melt or even catch fire.

Any recommendations? I'm trying to find spognge tape arund the house, i KNOW it's aroudn somewhere, but can't find it

any suggestions for now?

or should i be making the ballast touch the chassis :S

I didn't ground my ballasts. Do you have to? What happens if you don't?

Grounding Ballasts

By not grounding the ballasts cases by fastening them to the chassis with a screw or bolt, you run the risk of setting up a floating ground loop which will show up on the radio as a whining noise.

But the main reason is that using two-sided tape, or zip-ties, will guarantee that the ballast will come loose at some point. Do it right the first time and then forget it.

Because if you zoom in on the picture and turn up the brightness, there seems to be spray-paint on the wall right above your cutoffs...
would you all agree this picture is pretty good for a reflector and not a projector? also, would a 2010 HID be better than say a 2008? in the housing it looks like there is a tiny projector that sits at the tip of the bulb? is that what it is? is anyone doing projectors with newer civics or are the PNP pretty good ?

I would not buy this kit. I decided to buy one for the fogs i have, HORRIBLE!
they flicker badly, checked the relays i was running, not the problem

DDM kits are MUCH higher quality. and much cheaper

these things SUCK

PS DDM slim ballasts put out less power tho, so they are not as bright

ALSO
IF YOU ARE RUNNING A SOUND SYSTEM< USE THE RELAY HARNESS!

a while ago i said why bother, and now i have the reason. luckily caught it early.
with over 1300RMS powering my speakers and sub/s
the voltage would drop, but the HIDs wouldnt dim. i thought AWESOME

NOT AWESOME. burnt connector on the stock harness!!!

heed my warning, unless you have a bone stock electrical system, run the harness
