point is, i fear that i will receive cheaply made parts that will either not work, work improperly, or short out.
China is notorious for mass production of low quality items... which is true for American items as well sometimes but i fear the unknown. and a lot of people mentioned having the HIDs flicker. Which i don't want. |

Well, there is some validity to your fear, but at under $100 for a set of HIDs, even if they only work for a year, they are well worth it, especially since the HID sets are warranted for 3 years. Just because something is inexpensive, does not mean that it is of inferior quality.
I have yet to hear from anyone that has used the vendor I bought from having a problem with exchanging a bad ballast or bulb. In fact, the only vendor that I have seen that even comes close to the customer service that they provide is Xenon Depot. Now keep in mind, their equivalent products have a price premium on them, and they are Canadian, but if you can live with that, then Xenon Depot is another option for you. lol, no i totally support Obama, that has nothing to do with my perception of poor quality stuff coming from China, i've seen too many yourube vids of poor quality HID kits from overseas.
I'm not racist or prejudice, but i am cautious. I am not trying to offend |

2. Park your car and facing it, walk 30 ft away from it. Kneel down and if it bothers your eyes, lower them. 3. Not really 4. You only need to buy bulbs with amp connectors 5. A harness is for safety in case your ballasts are defective and decide to play a joke on your harness which, in turn, will cost you more than the HID kit you bought. |

if you are putting them on an 8th gen civic you do not need the harness. this has been discussed multiple times in this thread. the wires and fuses that come stock are the same or better than the ones in the harness. any other civic or car you should use the harness because it has not been tested.
as far as quality goes, there are a lot of people who have been very satisfied with the kits they got from . a ahndful may have had a problem but they contacted and he either gave them a refund or replaced parts. i have had this kit for over a year and it has never given me a problem. there is NO better deal out there on PnP kits. |

No-No's 4 Mounting your ballasts
Double-sided Tape, zip-ties, chewing gum, masking tape, your girlfriends brassiere, etc. are not good attachment methods for your HID ballasts. The area where the Ballast mounts is a very hostile area with lots of dirt, grime, mush, rain, snow, sand, and high vibration and shock thrown in for effect. Tape and ties are guaranteed to fail. It is not a question of "if", only "when", and that will probably be in the middle of the night in the worst rain or snow storm you have ever been in.
Use the supplied brackets and either find a bolt hole to attach the ballast, or use a self-tapping screw to mount your ballast securely to the body (chassis) of your car. Do it right the first time, and then you don't have to worry about it again. Last edited by Orient Express; 05-23-2008 at 11:00 AM. |

The flicker question
Yes, I have had my HID kit since November of 2006, and yes, my kit does flicker once after being on for about 5 minutes.
I tend to believe that this is a function of the Ballast design, but it happens so quickly that unless I am looking for it, it is easy not to notice. I an not worrying about it. The lamps perform perfectly fine otherwise. |

My HIDs: 5000ks, same brand as OE's. I have had them in 10 months now, and I'm satisfied. I do get some flickering early on occasionally , but oh well. Some people say that relay would help, some don't, and I have not put it in. If I had it to do over, I'd go 4300k. |
