4300 HIDs installed. Had a friend do 98% of the work (I brought the car, the HID kit, and some Tim Hortons).
Took longer than anticipated...had a few hicups that've been mentioned...cramped quarters with his hands and getting some of the plugs to go and with attaching the ballast/igniter (only removed a few of the fender clips instead of taking the tire right off - - broke 1 clip...oopsie) and the fact that you hafta really push on one of the connectors to make it a secure connection. Took us/him roughly 2.5 hours, but that's with about 20 min trying to figure out the wiring harness (didn't end up using it but he suggested upgrading to 20amp fuses for each low-beam, which I'll do tomorrow) and about 30min trying to figure out the dumb plug that didn't get pushed in all the way (mentioned at the end of the previous paragraph). Great cut-off for a PnP kit, no high-beam flashes from oncoming cars... satisfied thus far. ![]() I'll post pics in a day or 2 |

Keep your fuses the way they are!
You want to keep each individual lighting leg fuse at 10 amps, they will be fine as these ballasts only draw 8 amps at startup. The main "doomsday" lighting fuse is 20 amps, so you are already covered for a catastrophic failure.
So leave your fuses alone. Remember, you want to have the smallest amperage fuse that will carry support normal operation of that circuit. Typically the fuse is sized at 120% of the normal highest current draw of that circuit. |

Thanks a lot for the info.
I wasn't sure if one should have at least the minimum amp fuse and anything above that will be "okay" (if that makes sense...example: If the lowbeam needs a 10amp, a 15, 20, 25 amp'll do...that being said, I don't know much about electrical stuff that's why I just supplied the coffee and aimed the flashlight while my buddy installed 'em). Another example is getting Z-rated tires for my civic...they'll do 117mph no problem but they're capable to handle more y'know? - - odd example I know ![]() He may've used 20amp fuses as the 2 cars he's put HID conversion kits are an '02 Protege5 and a '97 Lexus ES300 (possibly older setups electrically or possibly don't have the safety sort of things that the '06/'07 Civics have) *shrug* QUESTION: It was suggested by a few friends (one has a HID conversion and one has stock headlamps) not to flick your HIDs on and off and then on and then off in quick succession ...to show somebody how they 'ping' on and off or to admire them in the reflection of glass (that sorta stuff). Can you damage something by turning it on and off more than a "reasonable" # of times?? |

It takes 4 seconds for HID lights to fully become operational, that is why they "ping" and then slowly change color to the final brightness and color.
Turning them on and off rapidly can shorten the life of the ballast circuitry, and the bulb. If you have to do it, then turn them on, count to 5, turn them off then back on, count to 5....... |

Just odered mine...$99 plus shipping. So my next question is how can I get ird of the yellow high beams/DRL's. I think the kit looks good and with this DIY even I can do it but I don't want to have these nice lookin light and the stock yellowish bulbs for HB/DRL's and even the fogs. Also where do I get replacement bulbs when these burn out?
P.S. went to the local Honda dealer today to get some of those plastic clips, I'm sure I'll break a few. Well anyway out front they had a brand new red Civic Type-R...wow that is a bad ass car, if I could bring it back to the states with me I would have bought it on the spot.
