The HID Lighting Tutorial

Very informative read on HIDs, and the truth why anything higher than 4300k is useless. I'm glad I found this.

http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html

xenondepot.com sells genuine Philips bulbs, thus is why he (Steve) only lists 4300k for that brand. Anything on ebay that lists "Genuine Philips 6000k or 8000k" bulbs is a scam. Philips or Osram-Sylvania only make 4100-4300k. Period.

Beware! :)

Thanks

lol.

I just thought it would be good for everything to be educated on lighting. I was about to purchase a 6500k HID lighting kit, but decided against it now because of the glare issue. Another option would be 5000k McCullochs.

Back to the drawing board!

Phillips also makes 5000k bulbs to match already burned in bulbs after the color shift/change.

Philips also has a 6000K Ultinon bulb. It's on that website you cite.

What kind of bulbs do we need for the civic? only 9006 works?

Plus what about the hi/lo kits? I mean I think you lose functionality of your highbeams if you have a low kit/conversion right?

For your low beams you need to use 9006 bulbs.

Since our high beams and low beams are two different lights, if you install an HID kit on your low beams, you will have np with the high beams.

i just did a hid install on my girlfriends 06 ex had some old nissan HID ballast i used to use. Bought some rebased d2r bulbs from ebay for the 9006 housing and install was like 20 minutes they even provided a harness with the bulbs to plug into your stock 9006 harness and splice the other end into the HID wiring harness. Looks awesome. She still has her daytime running lights/high beams.

NEVER EVER USE SILVERSTAR ULTRAS FOR ANY LIGHT!!!! what are u nuts? they produce 20% LESSlumens, if u spend the money on HIDs , spend the money to pick up a pair of HIRs 9011, on ebay only one sell (toshiba makes them, GE created them) and produce more lumens that ur standard 9005 on the same wattage!!!
Silverstars are a JOKE!!! same with PIAA and all those blue light bulbs... they are all gimmicks, if they dont tell u Lumen output, they are a joke

In other questions
Where can i find prices on projectors, and what ones are good for retrofitting???

whats funny is that if you buy the hids for these cars, when you use your high beams, your low beams stay on also.
