Retrofit or Buy one premade

Which is better? how much of a price gap is there between a retrofit being done vs. a premade one?

Guys know any recommendations? I want quality work. I've seen some amazing retrofits here on this forum. Post some of yours and where it was done and how much it cost, lighting specs [4200k? 6000k?] How long would it take for a retrofit to be done? I live in SoCal willing to go to a shop and get it done if you guys know of any.

quality retrofit jobs cost nearly if not over a grand for parts and labor, but remember you get what you pay for.

Check the F/S section, I think there are a few in there, but you do get what you pay for. Dont go with E-bay lights, your regret it. Defiantly get a set done by a pro. Anyone can chop and headlight and shove a projector it. What you pay for is the fit and finish. Projector type and bulb temp is just personal choice.

i got tsx projectors, 6000ks, complete kit for about 800, had to buy extra headlights to use while the oem ones were retrod. I used customlightz first, they kept fogging. Couldnt get a hold of Bjorn for warranty. Rich was standup at hidillusionz.com - ill be using him again if my next car isnt HID equipped.

there's a group buy going on for hidillusionz and you can email rich and discuss options with him. this website: HID ILLUSIONZ [new york city] will give you a general idea for the group buy currently going on and the prices for each package. price range $650+

You could also pm bjorn or gonzo (on 8thcivic) who I believe are running their own company now. I'm guessing they took over the customlightz name?

A third option is HID Projector Headlight Retrofit for Subaru, Honda, BMW, Scion and More | LightWerkz.net who have also produced some quality retros.

All 3 options are fairly pricey, but they all produce quality work. Your 4th option if you really want retros is to lurk the for sale threads and wait for someone to post up something that you want. The only problem with this option is if you are looking for retros with sc430 projectors. That particular retro setup isn't as common so you're unlikely to see it on the for sale threads any time soon.

SC430 projectors/S2000 shrouds a la Rich @ HIDIllusionz.

Customer service is top notch. Once I get some good pics of my setup, I'm going to be doing a full review of my retro from HIDIllusionz.

Yes, buy a 2nd pair to send for retrofit. That's what I did. I couldn't afford downtime with my car and I also wanted amber corner markers (07-08) not clear like what came on my 09 so I bought some 08 sedan headlights.

they have come down it price quite a bit... my 1st TSX setup was over a grand (including a 2nd set of headlights)

my new setup (sc430/s2k shrouds) was considerably less

Hey Leonared1818 did you do a lens swap on the sc430. I've been playing around with the sc430 with a lens swap and some lens spacing. I'm really liking the output, they are great. I think I might use the sc430 for my next set.

Right now I'm rocking the RX330 projectors with clear lens swap with a modifed shield and using E46 shrouds. I like it alot but I might use the sc430. I also got my retro done by Rich, quality work.

Rich did everything concerning my retro. I believe he did do a clear lens swap. He didn't mention anything to me about spacing or anything so I'm not sure if any was done but I'm extremely pleased with them. The sharpness of the cutoff is amazing as is the width.

Quick question for ya: If Rich did your retrofit, how are you playing with the projectors? did you open your housing back up?
