FG2 2009 HID fogs

I have an 2009 FG2 and I need to know the best way to install HIDs on them.
I looked around and couldnt find any DIY's for the 09's and since they are a little different I don't really know how people go about it. ie: Ballast mounting location, how to get in there, same H11 bulb thought right?
Hope some 09 members can help me out
thanks all

I have an 08 but it should be the same... bulb type is H11, I'm about to install mine and realize the front bumper will have to come off. You can look at various guides in the DIY section to do this. Just find a nice solid mount to attach the ballast to. Also it wouldn't hurt mounting it a a bit high so water isn't a problem.

My advice is don't do it. The reflector is way too small for the amount of heat that the lamp will create, and besides, only posers drive with their fog lights on. Fog lights are for increased visibility in fog or inclement weather, not to blind on coming traffic.

Just to clear up the misinformation and someone correct me if I'm wrong:

HID bulbs actually burn at a LOWER temperature than their halogen counterparts. And while I agree that HIDs blind oncoming traffic, I don't think it'd be as bad in the fogs since they're lower and have a cutoff much lower.

There is more glare that comes from my hid fogs than my headlights. Currently im trying to find some vinyl overlays to block out the top half of my fogs.

I mounted my ballasts on my bumper near the fog light housing but i have a 07. I would assume that would be a fine place for placement on an 09. Just take off the bumper and figure out a spot that is out of the way of everything around it.

True the bulb is cooler, but that is not the issue, it is the size of the reflector that is smaller concentrating the heat of the bulb. This is what makes the entire assembly much hotter than a high/low beam reflector.

The other issue with a fog light reflector is that the bulb hood is not designed for HID bulbs. The hood is open in the front, which is what causes most of the glare.

I think its in a thread about China PnP HID Kit installation. The guy measure the temp on the front of the headlight and shown that the temp is lower than the OEM halogen.

yeah, I can see the pictures in my head and I think you're right... it was a temp measurement in a PnP HID HEADLIGHT kit, not fog.

FWIW, I asked Rich @ HID Illusionz if I should go ahead and buy a PnP fog kit to put in, he said no. He said the benefit is not that great, output is not good, glare is bad and it's just a bad idea.

I trust his word on it.

Yes, HID in the OEM fog have glare even worst than the PnP Kit in our OEM headlight. Too bad I already have the ballasts mounted and don't want to mess with it, so I will just keep it until I have time and money for fog projector retrofit. Well, the intense yellow band on the two sides with 3000K HID fog look sweet though.
