How are HID's in non projecting OEM Lights?

Brighter and whiter, as long as you are not going with anything above 6000K. Make sure you at least aiming your headlight lower otherwise it will blind peoples, but even that it will still have glare all over the place.

I had em in my previous car and they were aimed low so that it wouldn't directly blind people but it did have glare... no one ever flashed me though.
