Damn talk about thread from the dead. I have an si and changed mine to blue but I bought the light from a ex civic and changed it out. The actual led light is pretty damn small less then half the size of a grain of rice and its a rectangular shape. Not sure what they call those leds but if you have experience with that sort of stuff you could probably change just the led. I bought the whole control that holds the led in it and changed that out.

Is it really a courtesy light though? Not like it does anything.

Here's the LED from and 08 Odyssey. The only difference between the one in the pic and my 09 Civic EX's is the color. It's an easy swap.

Changing the LED out for a brighter LED wouldn't be hard either as long as you know how to solder. I thought about doing this myself until I tore a retina and now have issues with lights at night...

how much does it cost? I just think at it's current state.. it's pretty useless. If it was a little bright it would be nicer. LoL

Well seattlecivic Im not sure how different my 2006 to your 2008 car is but my courtesy light doesn't look like anything blurple showed or what the cardoman link showed. Here's what mine looks like. The blue on the left actually lights up the sunroof switch. The led is actually that little white rectangle piece.

And here's a closeup
Not sure how to change it so I just changed that whole piece. I got if from Majestic honda part# is 35830-SVA-A01ZA I got if for like 25, kinda a lot when it really isn't that bright but I like blue better then red.

Is it brighter than the orange light? I might do that. Is it pretty much a quick swap out?

I would think its the same light output just in blue though. Yea takes about 15min just be careful taking things out so you dont snap any tabs.
