So I installed a Volt 6000k Kit recently. It's PnP. I think the light output on it looks really weird though. Instead of looking like one big field of light, it makes a "U" like output. Anyone have any ideas why?
it looks like that because your using a PNP HID kit in stock reflectors. There's nothing you can do to fix it. That's why your car came with halogen light bulbs and not HID light bulbs.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I try and it let you know. I read good reviews on the kit from this forum and have seen other cutoffs that look much better. Thanks again!
I had the same problem with my initial install. Turns out that my left bulb wasn't seated fully where it was supposed to be. I had to use a dremel to shave a small amount for proper fit. Since I have done that, my cutoff looks the same as the retro projo's. Hope this helps ya.
Yup, I also had a bulb not fully seated fully and one of the patterns looked messed up. I thought that the install was perfect and then when I re-inspected found it with one of the tabs not fully installed but riding on top of the ridge. I'm thinking that one of your bulbs isn't straight as can be.
I have reflectors and after I fixed it I have 2 smileys but they are very even. Also, the insulators on mine are pretty much straight down, if they're not its another sign that they're not seated 10000%.
Make sure the bulbs are in properly and all the way. Sometimes its not good enough to just blindly feel around the area because its too small. Take off the wheel and go through there or remove the whole bumper.
can you take pics of the position your bulbs are in right now? cuz i just installed the volt kit as well and wanna see a comparison between your's and mine
I'll post a pic or 2 of mine with stock reflectors this evening against a wall. Pattern is good as far as not blinding anyone. You'll note that the smilies are a lot closer to even on both sides. I think that there's some reflection in there causing the smilies. I'm sure that it's been covered b4.
The downside is that I believe that there's a loss of brigtness to some of the beam ahead due to the reflection which you wouldn't get with projectors (my next project when my money boat comes in).
Looking about 75' straight out. Hotspot on tree trunk to the left of right stone post View attachment 18150
2 Things, I can't figure out how to post a full size image so you need to clik on the small pic to see it full size.
Also, got hit today and left light may have moved a hair.
I was thinking about raising mine a few inches to see what that would do. I think that the snow in mine is perhaps reflecting the light some. They're like yours I think on a black road. The cutoff is very tight with the stock reflectors and Im wondering what 55w in them would look like. I;ve never been flashed or anything with the 35w.
Yup, 6 is where it's sposed to be. My passenger side only goes to 5 and I dont want to break the base of that one by trying to force it anymore. At this point I may have my bumper replaced and when it's off I'll mess with it again. Very clean light though. When looking at a wall do you have the smiles on each side also? Also, what temp are your bulbs?
lol nice =] i guess i gotta adjust my headlights to make it go further then. lol ill do a wall shot when it gets darkers. and for my lights, its the Volt Kit 6000K.
ahh cant. =( basketball hoop is in front of the garage. lol totallly forgot about that.
