no more hid's

hi

i recently got rid of my hid's because they sometimes wouldn't turn on which is really annoying. i actually have better visibility and distance with out them.

heres where i bought them stay away from this kit, the ebay seller is supervtec and the slim ballasts are called Xentec

they were cheap so i guess you get what you pay for

eBay Motors: Slim HID Xenon Kit 9005 8000K 6000K H3 3000K 10K H6 8K (item 280301425875 end time Feb-10-09 01:57:27 PST)

i had 5000k btw

Get your HIDs from the site sponsors. They stand behind their products and will help out with any questions.

^ And also provide warranties. The ballast on the HIDs are bound to crap out but if you buy it from a good brand/sites, it would last longer + warranties.

The HID kits should be just a plug-n-play system so you could remove it once the lease is over. Just a thought...

i know but it was a PITA going though the wheel well to put them in and take them out

i'm happy with the halogens, it's not like the civic has projectors where xenon has the most benefit

IM ALSO A VICTIM OF SUPERVTEC =[ !!! but my situation is different..the bulb colors arent matching because if you look directly at the bulb one is blue and the other is white. the output on the streets is still the same though. The ballast are in good working order just boo boo bulbs

Were you using a HID relay kit? I bought the same brand from a different ebayer and have not had a single issue. I have had the kit for almost 3 months now. I did put in a HID relay harness when I installed the HID kit. I wonder if the lack of the relay kit may have been your problem?

the slim ballast are more likely to experience problem starting up because instead of using the traditional coils to step up the voltage, it uses change pump circuit as well. The charge pump circuity is very very easy to have collapsing waveform, causing the output to be at an insufficient voltage level to ignite the HID
All ballast (even from the same factory) are different. Some are simply better than the other ones. It's just by chance if you get a good or bad ballast.

I never trust ebay sellers. but best of luck in confronting with him.
I have one of those slim ballast as well. I got it from ClubLexus. If mine burns out, I'm switching back to stock bulbs.

I have the same Xentec slim hid kit that I have been using since July and have not had any problems. I had the 5000k bulbs that it came with but was not happy with the color(it was too blue than supposely white) or output so I ordered some different brand set of 4300k. Never had any ballast problems from it, always turn on without hesitation - even in -10s degrees too!

I feel your pain about going through the wheel well. What was Honda thinking? A question we may never get the answer to.

Honda has NOT been thinking lately, since gas got expensive and everyone wanted one !

My 97 accord, 2.2L was one of the best cars I have owned. Easy to do DIY and maintenance, build very well, no tranny issues at 120K and ran QUIET without any rattles (list goes on and on).

08 SI , built relatively POOR, rattles and issues....

Well, back in Nov., I had the hood, front fenders, roof, and trunk lid repainted under warranty. That was a chore in itself just getting the dealer to approve the work.
