Hey guys, I saw this video that shows you how to make angel eyes from scratch using blind rods and LED. I think this is really cool and cheap. I was just wondering if this is doable for a 06 civic sedan? I'm thinking to do this around the drl/highbeams encasing and use this angel eyes to be my drl. And yet use my highbeams using the original bulb with the normal highbeam switch.
Let me know if this is doable and if someone can help me with the wirings and stuffs..
Btw, this will be my 2nd time with lightings, (the first one was HID) so forgive me for being noobish.
While I won't do angel eyes for my car - that is still a very cool DIY. Looks pretty simple actually. And the amount of light it outputs is pretty impressive.
I do have a spare set of headlights (bought a new set for my retros). I may do a retro mod myself sometime. If I do, I'll do this also.
thats too cheap and ugly looking lol
But if it's gonna be an accent to your car, then by all means do it. Once you see it up close though, it won't look as nice.
that doesnt look very good. for one, the rod is too thick. secondly, even though the notches look kind of like the angel eye stripes, it doesnt really, it it kind of just looks like a full ring with cuts in it. also, rods are not round, so when you look at it when the lights are off, your gonna see the hexagonal or octagonal shape of the rings.
wow.. nice find. This project will really be a test of patience if you do decide to do it. and if/when it turns out good.. bravo.. but, if you don't decide to spend time to make it good and have it ends up being a hack job... I wouldn't let it go near my car.
Wow, I'm glad to see a discussion here. I just finished my dreaded 3 hr genetics exam and it was retarded.
Thanks for the comments and for sharing a lot of good points. I also think that this isn't quite sturdy especially if done for the first time. But thanks anyways. I'm just amazed on how innovative people can be by using simple things and create something cool like that.
Try something like this for a water management project:
- Final model in wood
How to reflect water on the promenade for visual references.
Instead of building something huge you can do the follow:
- plastic container for the pool,
- 6 Blue leds around the plastic container( which will be sat below ground level) at 9v put in serial.
- Wiring
- Add a 9v battery from homedepot and add a switch at the base to toggle it on and off.
- Glue foil paper under the promenade
Dim the studio lights and viola!
You get water reflecting off the promenade giving an accent to the project for both visual and constructive views.
All for 6 bucks at most for an A-grade project.
