alright 8thciv members, this website helped me divorce my dc5, helped me get my fg2 in october, helped me spend $2300 since then on parts, and now i need some help and advice before i spend more!

i'm a noob when it comes to retros, and i'm about to purchase one this week from a fellow member and i just want to make sure i'm getting my money's worth and making a good choice. I wanted to get HIDs PnP initially, but after searching for pictures between the difference between PnP HID and projector HID, i know what i have to get. The PnP has such an annoying glare.. retros are so much more clear with a clean cutoff, plus retros look so hawt! Just a couple questions...

  • This is most likely a noob question, but is the cut off suppose to be even? I noticed after alot of searching that i have not seen any even cut offs that are even.
  • Are there issues with the cut off being too low and anyone having difficulties getting it higher? From pictures i've seen the cut off is usually too low for me and its hard to tell if the actual projector can be adjusted.
  • Are there laws in each state on how wide and bright the spectrum is? (180 degree thing)
  • Is there anything specific i need to look for when buying these, besides the cutoff? they are tsx projectors.
  • Has anyone heard of Caveman or his work he does? I found 2... but no related posts about it.

I found some pretty helpful threads searching, below was probably the most helpful.

Honestly it was hard for me to justify this much money into headlights, (especially doin this behind the wifey's back LOL) so now i just want to make sure i'm getting good quality lights. Any other recommendations, suggestions? Thanks!

more what you are looking for is are the horizontal lines strait and little blurring(if the blurring results in multiple colors that ok=color mod) along the edges, there will be little jogs in the line

depending on how the projector is mounted, you may or may not be able to adjust them, ask the seller if they can be adjusted
  • Are there laws in each state on how wide and bright the spectrum is? (180 degree thing)
Your main concern is whether or not other drivers will be blinded.
  • Is there anything specific i need to look for when buying these, besides the cutoff? they are tsx projectors.
can they be adjusted, are they color modded, do they include bulbs and ballasts, are there any imperfections, are the mounting brackets sound, what are the lenses(fresnal or clear). these are the basic questions to ask
  • Has anyone heard of Caveman or his work he does? I found 2... but no related posts about it.
B i have heard of him mentioned as someone to go to to do retros(i think)
if i missed anything can someone please correct me.

spend some time in here

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/cust...t-specialist/58054-custom-lightz-gallery.html

the lights will have a "step" up to the passenger side. People have different preferences on how much tall the color modding is (rainbow/blue colors... above cuttoff)

the lights will look like this with projectors

___________/-----------------------

driver passenger side

projector / HID's will not be as "high" as what you're used to with your stock lights. They don't point up - you'd blind oncoming traffic. So street signs that are up high will be somewhat harder to read. The light on the road with HID's is much more intense.

You are able to align your lights with a screwdriver - to move them up/down once they are installed. Again, look at the link above to see some cutoffs.
