My thumbs hurt... a lot
So yesterday I got my new Silverstar ST headlights or whatever they are and went over to a nearby parking lot to change em with my friend. Little did I know how damn difficult and painful of an experience I was in for. First of all, I love how small the hood is, but damn everything is tight in the engine bay. I thought it was going to be a quick in and out change like my Integra was. I was wrong. It said there were screws to take off the fender cover according to the manual, but on my 08' I encountered these little plastic wanna be push in pieces of crap!
![]() I tried my fingers first, which was a really bad idea because now my thumbs hurt like hell because the skin separated from the nail on both and it sucks. The flat head screwdriver barely even got them out and I was scared of breaking them at the same time. When it was all said and done and after squeezing my arm in there to get to the bulbs, I love the end result. I just hate how damn difficult it was. Anyone know an easier way of changing your headlight bulbs or something to use in the future to remove these things? On a side note, I flagged down an ASM FA5 that happened to roll through for their help, but it didn't do much. They were cool guys and some of their friends came by too and we all hungout for a bit and talked cars. My friend has his tC there too, which I know some of you hate, so that also got their attention. It's amazing how a car can bring people together. |

I can tell you from having problems with bulbs that there is really no other way. I've replace my bubls about 5 times ea. It may help to have a small flathead screwdriver to start the initial turn on the tabs. You only have to get those up a little before they pop out. Then i pull the plastic well out of the way. Reach your hand in there like your stealing chips out of a vending machine and -boom- your done. It blows but thats it. Look at the DIY

Yea and I didn't want the plastic to warp and not fit right again. The bulbs better last me for a while.... I don't mind my arms, but the thumb part was ridiculous. I also didn't want to break the plastic pieces because god knows when I'd get a replacement and for how much for tiny pieces of plastic.

I wanna buy that special screwdriver looking tool that picks up those plasic rivet peices that you guys are talking about. They also get them off the grille too when you wanna swap or change something. A really handy tool.
