HID Retrofit complete (Pics)

Okay so i recently did my HID retrofit and i will have to say that it was definitely hard. But it was hard because of the method used. The aiming was the hardest part to make sure that the beam pattern was correct

My materials were:

TSX Projectors
HID Kit with 8000k Bulbs
Guinea Pig Headlight
and a bunch of tools.

Note: My uncle is an engineer so he has many tools that made this job much easier. Instead of using a dremmel tool like in most DIYs we used a radial arm saw like in the first picture. Definitely made life a lot easier.

The first part was drilling a perfect circle depending on the projector used. This made life a lot easier because this hole was drilled in 5 seconds.

So here it is after drilling.

Then came putting in the projector. This was the hardest part because aiming it to go the right way was hard. My uncle and I decided the next retrofit we're gonna do is gonna use a more convenient and easier method to putting in the projector.

Here is the projector finally placed into the reflector.

Here is the complete project

I will post night shots later.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

The only notes i'd like to make about this project is that drilling the projector into the headlight is extremely difficult and impractical. Using a glue is more convenient and easier to aim.

For tsx projectors...shrouds arent needed and it would just make life more of a hassle because aiming it was a hassle already. In these output pics the cut off isnt very good because of the aiming...

My next retrofit will use a combination of constructors foam glue to aim and make a perfect line. Unfortunately these didn't come out very good because of the method of bolting the projector to the reflector housing.

So as you can see the cut off isnt as good on other HID cars or stock HID cars. Like i said the method of bolting the projector into the reflector housing is definitely inefficient and ineffective. My next retrofit will use glue that way i can aim them more perfectly.

you should use the bolts but dont actually bolt the projector in place. Use them as guides and then "glue" the bolts onto the reflector peice. Thats what I did. My cutoff is nearly perfect.

Since you have the projector in place you could do a shroud but you have to make an extension peice to cover the rest of the projector.

OP, it looks very good but the aiming is off. the cutoff line should straight and both projector cutoff line should come together. it seems that your passenager projector is slanted down. it should look like ___/----___/------

Here is mine before the final aim. The left is off slightly and they both dont line up. I have already fixed the left to be straight.

Currently if you are looking for a retro on a coupe i cannot do it. The reason is because aiming is an important part of doing a retro. And because i have a sedan i can currently only aim sedan headlights. If anyone is interested in wanting a retro done on their coupe or sedan pm me and i'll give you details. I'm looking to do some more since i have so much time on my hands. Let me know
