Day time driving lights are the same as High beams. Correct? Therfore, if I get 9005 bulbs, they will be the drving lights?

if you do with HIDs youll have to pull the fuse for the day time running lights
otherwise you will blow the hids
hids CANNOT be used for Day time running lights, they will be damaged
high beam hids are never recommended, and unnecessary if you have low beam hids

They went right in and locked with no problem. So if anyone replaces the lights and cant get them turn, just swap the rubber o rings.

hahaha
silverstar bulbs do come in h11, but considering they put out LESS lumens than a standard Sylvania Xtra vision, why bother? just cause its whiter? so what?

your best bet is the sylvania xtra vision, otherwise check out retro-solutions.com

ive talked to the owned before, those kits are really good (not according to him, thats out of other peoples experience, he showed me rate of returns and stuff like that which was super low)

when the DRL is active, does it use 50% wattage compared to when the high-beams are active?

it uses approx 25%
nothing usable for HIDs, you still can get yourself any HIR or halogen bulb (HIR is the higher output that youll need to cut a tab to fit, only one seller on ebay, pricy but worth it!)

the reason i'm asking is that I see many people on here using those nokyas hyper yellow 9005 bulbs but they come in 80w. If they only use 25% of the wattage, then the harness shouldn't melt right? unless you use the high beams a lot.

the harness can still melt, halogen heats up fast, it wont melt from being a day time running light, but if u run them for a few minutes they will heat up way too quicky

your best bet is getting standard 65 Watt yellow bulbs, they are hard to find sometimes but u can
i still dont know why you would want yellow, it doesnt do great for illuminating the road in my opinion, things look weird, kinda throws of your eye sight lol
my friend dropped them on his si, looked good from the front, not so much from the drivers seat lol
not to mention your actually loosing light output by getting a yellow bulb

if nething your best bet is an HIR, more light, slightly whiter than standard halogen, and 65watts!
nothing beats that lol

negative, they arent
first off the draw 100 watts, you high beams draw 65 watts (more wattage = more heat and more chances at things melting ;-) )
if you want the same wattage, and more output that limits you to HIDs or HIRs
HIDs in highbeams arent always recommended as its IMPOSSIBLE to flick them without damaging the bulbs or ballasts
whereas HIRs are still halogen, but with a film on the inside the keeps the heat on the filament, so it burns brighter
they are about as expensive as silverstars (silverstars are LESS lumens than stock bulb tho!!!! just whiter)
eBay Motors: TOSHIBA HIR 9011 & 9012 BULBS, THE BRIGHTEST AVAILABLE (item 180296811894 end time Nov-04-08 22:49:13 PST)
that is the link to the ONLY seller ive been able to find with the toshiba ones
GE developed it, and sold it to toshiba, its in weird cars like Vipers and stuff
but theres a tab you can pop off and make it a 9005 bulb just like that (requires some cutting of base, but he marks off where for you!!!)

high beam equivelant is 9011 cut tab its now a 9005 ;-) 65 watts and way more lumens!!!
the low beam version is a 55 watt 9012 = 9006 with cut tab, and puts out the same lumens as your current high beams ;-) and actually lasts a decent amount of time!

good investment for highbeams, tho low beams i still suggest a nice digital HID kit from retro-resources.com

Is it ok to use a diff hid ballast w/ diff hid bulbs?Like say a pair of DDM ballasts and say a pair of Mcculloch HID bulbs?Or does it have to be same/same?

generally speaking, it SHOULD be ok
see its alot like using a sylvania florescent tube with Advanced ballast, it will def work and be fine there
the problem is that alot of korean and chinese kits come poorly made, flaws and such, most Mcculloch ballasts arent too bad, but they still have a decent rate of failure and ur paying extra for not a whole lot more
i know nothing about DDM lol, but research your companies before purchasing. I will be purchasing my Digital kit this winter once i get my car back from the shop (a whole mONTH to repair what that idiot did in a hit and run!)
research research research man ;-) cause if you dont, youll be sorry

research is why im buying digital, and going with 4300kelvins ;-)

Nokya Arctic Hyper Yellow (Stage 1) 2500K
Output 12V 65W Actual = 80W Brightest

What does that actually mean in the 65W Actual = 80W Brightest?

Does that mean that they are firing at 65 watts, but produce light as bright as an 80 watt? Confusion has set in!

welcome to marketing at its finest
its a 65W bulb they are CLAIMING is as BRIGHT as an 80 wattt....
is it possible? no
not at all, its just more gimecks
a TRUE light bulb will rate its lumen output, but not even sylvania does that with their silverstars... oh thats right, cause they put out LESS lumens than a stock halogen... got it!

dont fall to gimicks, a yellow halogen is a yellow halogen, they will all be about the same lumen output
