I got some Silverstars for Christmas and I was going to pop them in. But I can't even get to the darn low beam bulbs. I tried to remove the thing on the passenger side that blocks me getting to the bulb but I lost a bolt and still can't get to the darn bulb. I am probably doing this all wrong.
There has to be an easier way?! Do I need to remove the headlights? If so, how do I do it?

You can access them from the wheel wells. Remove the clips and pulls down and towards you. You should be able to see them and reach from there.

Thanks, I got them installed and they look Great The drivers side was easy but the passenger side took a while. I didn't go through the fender well but tried to unbolt what ever that thing is that is in the way. I lost one bolt and couldn't move it much anyway. Finally used some large screwdrivers and pliers to get at it. Next time I will try the fenderwell method.

Now to fog lights. Which ones do you guys recommend. Honda or OEM.
I heard OEM's don't last and aren't as easy to install. Oh well, that's another topic

But I thought OEM = factory = Honda. Don't you mean you're deciding between the factory fogs and the eBay (aftermarket) fogs?

Yup. Actually All the Ebay (aftermarket) fogs say OEM replacement fogs
but they are not Genuine Honda Factory Fogs. I cheapes I can find the Honda fogs is 226.00 plus shipping.
Question, since you have the Honda fog lights, are the lenses Glass or plastic?
I am really hoping they are glass not cheap plastic like all the OEM wanna be's

They're glass.

I know that because a rock on the highway decided to put a nice little hole in it (conical break; little pinhead hole where the rock hit it on the outside, but on the inside it's about 10x wider then on the outside)

But I think the Glass lenses are a lot more durable than the Plastic lenses.
But also more expensive. At least they wont crack as easy as the plastic ones.

I'm trying to replace my lowbeam bulbs too... the owner's manual says that i only need to take out a normal screw from the inner wheel well to gain access to the bulb, but when i looked, i found a black plastic cover/cap thing where the screw is suppose to be. How do i remove that cap? i dont wanna break anything.

thanks!

Use two small flat heads to pop it up, then you can remove it. There are two you need to remove. It makes it easier to get in to replace the bulb.

HIR's or aim low beams higher??

1. For anyone who has installed HIR's as low beams (9006), how has illumination distance improved??

2. Does anyone else think that stock low beam aim is too low?? How do I adjust aim? Is adjustment located in same place as bulb replacement?

Have '07 Civic Hybrid. Live in area with no street lights, made worse by hills/curves.

Am considering installing HIR's, but think I would also benefit from aiming low beams slightly higher. Don't want too much glare for oncoming drivers, but stock aim seems very low in comparison to all other cars I've owned. I like sharp cut-off of beam pattern, which is similar to Euro H4's I have used in other cars, but illumination distance is poor. I think it's both dangerous and fatiguing.

Thanks for any help.

Mine seem to be angled a little low in my opinion as well. I installed 100W artic white bulbs, which helped a little but still seem to be a little low. I plan on aiming a little higher when I install my foglights.

How do I aim low beams higher??

Low beams are aimed way too low. Headlamps usually have phillips screw to adjust height.

I called (2) local Honda dealers. In general, they do not want to aim higher as they are understandably concerned over glare to oncoming drivers. Will only adjust if aim is off from factory spec.

Does anyone know how to adjust aim? Is an adjustment screw visible from wheel well after removing plastic inner wheel well cover??

I don't want to bother oncoming drivers and will be careful, but reach of low beams seems to be only ~ 3-4 car lengths.

Thanks!

I hate to be an asshole, but all the yuppies that live around me have HID's which blind the Sh*t out of me. So if I move up a little to improve my driving safety and it causes a little glare for oncomming, screw it. Seriously the HID's here are unreal. I cant believe they are not illegal.

Don't worry, you're not alone. I have the misfortune of knowing a co-worker who took his Accord 2dr (2001, i think, the one that came before the first huge redesign) and spent all this money on new headlight units and then HID's and ballasts and s!&t. "Yes, they are very bright" i tell him. Of course they have ABSOLUTELY NO CUTOFF. why is this, might you ask? he spends all this money, but doesn't get projectors. No! He spent money on multireflectors. and the best part is, his car's electrical system can't handle them...They flicker.

I'm gonna re-ask a question from the top of this thread. Does anyone know anything about the bulbs that light the instrument panel (A/C, stereo, etc)
I ask b/c i am trying to swap mine out for either LED versions or at least "whiter" versions so that i can get the "CSX" effect (everything comes out blue)
All i know at te moment is that they run on 12V
