The reason Lexus is allowed to use them is because they've gone through rigorous safety testing. Putting Blue HIDs in your car, as well as most Bright White HIDs is going to be illegal. But, i guess it depends on local enforcement/knowledge. I know San Diego, CA police are pretty versed in aftermarket-modification law, haha.

But I'm still getting 6000k White HIDs =P (safer than blue anyhow).

Thumbs up Bulb choice help

Hello-

I was hoping that someone with knowledge about led replacement bulbs could help me out please. First, I'm looking to change out my DRL/Highbeam 9005 bulbs. I've been looking at these-

eBay Motors: Acura NSX 02-05 18 SMDs LED 9005 High Beam Light Bulb (item 350169227716 end time Mar-22-09 21:28:27 PDT)
eBay Motors: V-LEDS HID WHITE 68 M-SMT DRL BULBS HB3 9005 VS (item 220364168385 end time Mar-20-09 02:37:05 PDT)
eBay Motors: L-1081 2PS 9005 BULB SMT SMD 68 LED HID WHITE FOGLIGHT (item 360134791995 end time Mar-04-09 20:01:02 PST)

Can someone please tell me the differences between the various types of leds used on the different 9005 bulbs listed above? Also, which of these bulbs would perform the best during highbeam duties???? Since the leds use way less power than halogen bulbs, when they are in DRL mode, will they look the same(brightness-wise, lol) as when they are in Highbeam mode????

Next, I'd also like to use leds for the fog's H11 bulbs. I've been looking at these-

eBay Motors: L-1085 2PCS H11 BULB SMT SMD 68 LED HID WHITE FOGLIGHT (item 110355965806 end time Mar-03-09 01:44:39 PST)
eBay Motors: Acura RL 2008 05 06 07 08 18 SMD LED H11 Fog Light Bulb (item 350169228565 end time Mar-22-09 21:33:28 PDT)

Of the 2 H11 bulbs listed above, which ones would be brightest???? Thanks to anyone who can help out.

ok GOOD! no one else has responded yet. That means u havent gotten any info thats wrong yet
leds are currently (unless custom made) NOT bright enough to use as high beam bulbs. If you are replacing your high beam bulbs with leds, they will be come useless

the same goes for the fog lights. LEDS are again NOT the way to go, DESPITE what you may have read on other websites. I have found ALOT of misleading info about how bright leds can be, its untrue.
The brightest led on the market puts out 900 lumens at 11 Watts. Your fog lights are still well above that. your high beams are WAY above that
while the led is MUCH more efficient, JUST the led, no plugs nor circuitry goes for at least 20 bux an led
they also can burn up VERY easily, therefore due to heatsinking problems, have not been used in headlamp lighting at all

leds on ebay boast untrue lumen and MCD output. a super flux led is NOT capable of "100,000 MCD! at 140 degreees!" thats not possible and never will be
if you use the MCD calculator on superbrightleds.com, ull find that that particular led, only running .5watts somehow produces a couple hundred lumens... NOT POSSIBLE

if you are doing this for show, just know that it will be a good idea to do an HID projector retrofit in the low beams, therefore you may not need the high beams and fogs.

but i NEVER suggest using the current premade LED packages for headlights

i am currently doing research to the likes of an LED headlight, but its expensive and i have run into spread and cutoff issues (dont wanna blind people with headlights lol)
the only led headlight i know of is on that 80,000+ lexus v8 hybrid
but the lumen output is still not what it could be (only slightly better than halogen)

Just wanted to see how many people got the wire harness with 9006 bulbs? I mean, I've heard that they really don't need them but it'd be a safe bet to have the wire harness, correrct?

its the only halogen replacement bulb i would trust
dont buy Ge Nighthawks and DONT buy sylvania silverstars, THEY ARE NOT BRIGHTER, only "whiter"

55 watt for low beam/fog light
65 watt for highbeam
DO NOT EXCEED THE WATTAGE RATING!
if u want more light, look up HIR and HID replacements
