Hi everybody!
A little introduction... So back in the summer of 2006 I went to the local Honda dealership and pre-ordered a 2007 Civic Si in FBP and signed up on this forum. The current wait time at the time was about 4 months to get the car due to the demand. During that time, I came across an even better deal IMO... a brand new 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 for less than the MSRP of an 07 Si. I bought that and withdrew my deposit on the Honda. Fast foward to now... gas prices are soaring with no intentions of coming down. On top of that, priorities in my life are changing. I plan on buying a home in the next year or two and having something less expensive to pay off, cheaper to maintain and/or fix, fuel, and operate was simply the most practical and logical thing I could do under the circumstances. I could have afforded to keep the MS6 but perhaps at the expense of other things that have become important to me such as getting my own place that I own. With that... I decided to go economical and forgo the Si again. This was very sudden and only happened by chance. I got quite a good deal on it, otherwise I would have passed on it. There were a couple of unique things about this car that caught my attention right away and it seemed to have everything (and then some) that I was looking for in my next car. Good styling.. Check. Gas mileage... Check. 87 octane..... Check. Blue paint...... Check. Reliability....... Check. Moonroof....... Check. Nice Rims....... Check. Leather...... wait, leather? Check! 2006 Honda Civic EX Coupe ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Btw, would someone be so kind as to inform me what the deal is with these wheels? They aren't normal Civic EX wheels and they don't appear to be any HFP wheel you can get through special ordering. So what are they? Besides getting a great deal on the car, the wheels and leather are a big reason why I got this one specifically. I've been quite happy with the new ride so far. Future plans are tint, OEM foglights and CAI to start. Since I'm trying to save money I doubt I'll be going wild with the mods though. Last edited by Slimm; 06-06-2008 at 02:49 AM. |

The wheels are Honda Factory Peformance (HFP) wheels for model year 2002-2005 Honda Si. They are 17x7 with +45 offset. They also come in +55 offset for the 2003-2007 Accord and 2004-2008 TSX. They only come in size 17 and I paid $900 for a new set at 2006 for Accord. They are around $700 for a new set now on eBay. Congratulation on your Leather Civic and I also owned a 2003 Mazda 6s V6 before I got my 2007 Civic Si. Although the V6 feels more powerful, the transmission is night and day compare to Si.

looks nice...i like the atomic blue color, however, i would've gone for the si @ the price you pay for an EX-L. I realize it takes premium gas, which is $0.20 more in most areas, but I still average 30-32 w/ my Si vs. what you'll probably get w/ that .. 35-37. doesn't really change that much..insurance may be a bit higher too.

If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for the car? You can get 06 Si's for $14k-$16k these days and like "Prelude2Si" said you get so much more in an Si then an EX-L. The factor here is the amount of money you paid for this EX-L and how many miles it has because if it was dirt cheap then ya obviously this was the better deal.
