New lens = new shots

I got myself the Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS Telephoto Zoom Lens yesterday and went out to take some new shots of the car. Here's my favorites from the bunch. Some of them are a bit dark... i just havent had a chance to PS them yet.

__________

Edit: I dont have photoshop @ work, but my brothr does. I sent him the full-res versions of these pics and hes just messing w/ them while hes bored. Heres what he sent me so far. Nothing earth-shattering.

Thanks

hood is bent b/c of a hit&run . Im still waiting on finding a good, trustworthy place to get my new hood painted before I end up buying it. Only worthwhile place thus far gave me a quote of $400 to paint it... which is BS. Its gonna be 100% prepped and ready, and doesnt need to be installed. It should be $200 @ most, unless I have unrealistic expectations.

Drop is coming in a month or so (HFP Suspension). Rims probably wont change, at least for a while... im actually very fond of the Stockies

Have you tried fixing the levels and contrast in photoshop? RAW photos are sweet too, u can fix your white balance too.

I'm really not feeling any of your shots. They're all dark (yes you know that) and they are downsized via photobucket. You upload a huge file to photobucket and its going to look like you took it with a camera phone. Resize it with the camera's tools / photoshop / any photo editing program, it will properly align the pixels. Flickr does an awesome job of doing this as well. Aside from that, I still wouldnt have liked any of these pictures. The car is tiny in most of them.. like 1/8 of the picture. I would have liked to see a few of the car here:

But if you look.. the car isnt in the best location of the picture, and the wheel tread is facing the camera. Hope you take these comments positively.. cause I really like your car .. haha looks like mine but faster.. but it does need some wheels.. all in due time. Learn to compensate and "over" expose the pictures aka change the exposure and periodically look through your shots.

I do like how you walk around and frame it with stuff.. even though I've never been a huge fan of that.. it does mean you are walking around looking from different angles.

1 - They actually arent downsized via photobucket. Theyre downsized via a windows addon that I have for resizing pictures quickly.

2 - Gonna mess w/ them in PS when I have a chance later tonight

3 - I linked them for comments/criticisms. Cant get better if you dont know what youre doing wrong

4 - I dont know why but I feel like I enjoy pics more when the car doesnt take up the whole shot. I think it might be because of how ugly my hood is and Im subconciously trying to keep the viewer from noticing.

5 - More from this shoot location, or from the car in that exact spot? I had some more fromt hat location that I didnt like. I will likely go back to that spot and try again at some point, because I also really liked that location and wished the shots from there had been better.

6 - Should the car always be in the center of the image? How would you align the tread?

7 - See # 3

8 - Overexposing would be changing the 'x/x' (ex: 1/1200) setting to something lower, correct?

There is a meter +2 +1 0 -1 -2. Read in your manual how to change exposure.. its real easy.. I'd show you.. I have a lack of sleep and yeah.. its easy LOL. The car should actually NOT be in the middle all the time.. or else pictures would be like.. the same exact car just with different backgrounds.. although you NEED that, its not the ONLY thing. If you want your car to the side, make the rear towards the edge, not the front. You should read up on composition. But yeah.. you're taking pictures of your car.. you will obviously have other things in the picture.. but the picture should be focused on your car, otherwise your car is distracting, and is not the focal point. You could take pics of your car from the driver's side and chop the hood and it will look fine.

I read a bunch of stuff on composition and exposure and such previously. Maybe it just didnt all sink in... i'll have to go back and read some more.
