Post Looking for my first Si

Hey all,
My name is Harrison and iv been here for quite a while just never said anything. Im 19 and attending uci. Any fellow anteaters say hi. So my mom has an 06 nhbp ex and i love the look and economical engine, but it just lacks the kick i need. I finally saved 9k for the down payment on a new si and been asking dealerships for prices. The best iv gotten was 22.4k OTD. Iv seen some people get around 21k-22k on the numerous "price of si" threads. The question is should i go for it? I am aware of the many faults the si's have let alone civics in general, thus feel i should get the best price. But alot of dealerships have already stated they cannot beat or match that price. Any info and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I got mine for $21,700 OTD. $22,400 isn't that far off. I'm going to assume you want a coupe, since most younger guys do, and you don't have as much wiggle room as you do on a sedan (which is what I got).

stockton's up here toward the bay area tho, try calling him first and seeing how much better of a price he can give you to see if it would be worth the drive...

Many faults of the Si and Civics in general? Are you talking 3rd gear/scratch prone plastic interior or something more sinister?

thanks for the replies guys. I should have mentioned earlier i wanted the coupe. I have family up north so it shouldnt be a problem, plus it would make a nice break in. :) Do you have his info and your name? lol As for faults those and the most annoying rattles (my ex had alot i had to fix) along with the rev hang. haha

p.s. how do i use this "multi quote" button? lol

If I were you, I would shop around first for internet pricing. Ask as many dealerships in your area as you can.

I got mine for 20k and 23k otd with no options. If you can't get them to lower it to 20k, go to another dealership. I've seen a lot of people getting SI's at 20k. Just work with them, and be sure that day you're there you don't to do a lot of things. IF they still won't budge after an hr, go to another dealership. Took me 4 1/2 hrs to get from 21500 to 20k

Have you tried Rock Honda? Call them up, ask for Jerry, say Wisdom sent you (the guy that wouldn't let him wash my car), and tell him the quote you got. See what he says. I quoted from another dealer 17,000 for my LX and that was the lowest they could go and he calls me up and he quoted me 15,900 for it. Pretty sweet deal I'd say.

I think when he said 20k OTD, he didn't include TTL. I haven't seen a dealership go that low yet. They'd be losing money unless TTL don't cost anything.

Well depending on some states, taxes are different. but the lowest any dealership will go is 19,7 not including taxes b/c any lower and they lose money. I forgot what that is called, like the retail of it or something..

ya u r right...my 20k number did not include taxes but i also didnt have pay taxes on the whole 20k...just meant that the destination charge and what not was included in that number...when u go to the dealership tho tell them u got quoted a good price at another dealership...dont seem like u really really want it...just let them kno that u r just seein if they can beat the price or whatever...i went to a dealership 5 minutes before they closed on sunday...the salesman and estimator stayed late n gave me a great deal on my old car and the si...they gave me 12.5k for my 03 accord after i crashed it for 10k damage like a month prior...so i only ended up payin taxes on the 7.5k difference

Just an update, i did what you suggested with 2 other dealerships i havent emailed. Both didnt have an si in stock but told me they can beat the 22.4 otd price and will keep me updated. I also stay calm and act casual since i know what price i can get and am in no rush to buy. On a side note, my brother drives a mazda 3 5-door and the same dealer that sold his car offered me 23,667 otd for a SPEED3 sport. should i go for that? lol, gas efficiency is worse but the boost is tempting.

No, gas is gonna only go up. Go for SI seeing as gas mileage is a bit better...
