PSA: *Don't Drink and Drive*

Hey 8th members,

I just wanted to put a little public service reminder out there for anyone and everyone who has/will drive drunk in their lives. DON'T! Some may remember a while back I was hit by a drunk driver, car totaled, and faithfully returned to the FG community by getting my second coupe.

What I was painfully unaware of, which I recently found out was that I had injuries beyond what I thought. October 07 was the accident, which was followed by slight neck pain, and a few sessions of physical therapy; primarily electric-heat stimulation and massage therapy. After following up with my primary care physician, he told me he was worried about the slight tingliing sensation and loss of strength in my right arm. I went for an MRI, per his suggestion, resulting in the diagnosis of a cervical rediculopathy (herniated disc)! Test after test occured (EMG, X-Ray, myelogram, etc.) to conclude that I am going to have to have surgery in the next week or so. Recovery time eta 4 weeks+. The surgery, a foraminotomy, sounds severe but in actuality is very straight forward; takes less than an hour. The simply grind a piece of vertebrae off and reach in and remove the herniation, and sew me up. So where it stands now, I will be out for the count, no income (well minimal since insurance company only pays out $1000 a month for lost income), and in a lot of pain; all thanks to some dumb bitch who chose to effect my life and hers.

Thanks for anyone who has read through this long story, but hopefully it will make you ease up on your gas pedal a bit (for all you lead footers out there) and think twice about getting behind the wheel drunk. The girl who hit me was in her mid-20's, driving on a suspended license, and was underinsured; so basically, her life is going to be severely effected by the stupid choice to drive drunk.

Thanks again,

-Chris

BTW: here are the before pics, after pics of the accident, and the new whip

Glad to see you're back in the game man! While, TW is my favorite, there's something about NHBP that I love.

EDIT - Also, I have never and will never drive drunk. I couldn't live with myself if I ruined another persons life from a VERY stupid decision.

aaaand, good luck with your surgery bro, I hope you have a nice fast recovery!

WOW! I am glad you are OK, I wish you the best with your surgery!

As for your old SI, was there alot of firewall damage or something? The accident looks bad, but not totalled from the pics you provided.......

Did you max out her insurance and then have to use yours? I am sorry if you did...

Good luck!

Sorry to hear that. I'm not one for suing, but do you plan to? She should have to cover your lost income from work + medical bills

Sorry to hear about the accident. As an Insurance Auto Adjuster I see it all the time. The people fortunate enough to talk about it after. IT is rediculous. I'd rather sleep in the back seat or call for a ride then drive drunk.
