Smile My Car and my DIY Rim painting

My 2002 Mazda Protege ES Before

I did a little work to the stock rims and painted them gunmetal but I left the center cap and lip silver. I think they turned out great for $25 worth of paint and a little hardwork.

Here is a pic of my Protege with my Civic in the background ... unfortunately I don't have any other pics because I bought the Civic and had it for 1.5 months before my girlfriend wrote it off when she T-Boned a Jeep Cheroke on the freeway. It was only a 2000 SE but it was awesome. I'm waiting to get the 8th generation Civic to replace it. My girlfriend and I have been managing with one car since July. Now if only I could convice her that we need the SI coupe!!

Hope you like the pics!

Cheers,
Ron

How did you leave the lip silver? Did you mask it? Or is it a two-piece wheel? Good job by the way.

thanks for the compliment

i used wax rope and pushed it into the corner of the lip ... tape was too difficult to keep a good line. The rims are the stock Protege rims so they're one piece

i'd like to get the Mazdaspeed rims but they are in high demand here in Canada. They sell for over a thousand bucks.
