New member with questions.

Hello,

My name is Dan and I live in south florida. Right now I drive a 1991 Ford mustang foxbody that has a lot of engine work. This car is fast and is beginning to become too uncomfortable for daily driving.

I just graduated last week with my B.S. in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from FIU here in miami. I will be working soon.

I need a daily driver. I am not new to cars in any way, shape or form. I understand what the SI was designed for but my question lies in the car as a platform.

What modifications will void the warranty?

Does anyone have any stories or 'heads up' for me on ANY mods, this includes header, intake, exhaust, injectors, even turbo etc...

I am used to 400 ft-lbs of torque, I have been driving the mustang for 3 years. I understand the SI does not have the torque, I drove my friends SI almost everyday for a month just to get a feel for it.

I really like the SI but I want to know how it accepts modifications.

- Dan

Welcome -> 8th

Modding is what most of us discuss around here.

What is the highest attainable horsepower and torque at the wheels with safe, warranty acceptable, bolt ons?

Look up Magnusson and Moss Act

They cannot void your warranty just because you have modifications. They have to be able to prove that the modified part caused the problem.

any mod will be fine as long as it is not the cause of a malfunction in which case it would void the warranty.

hey dan, welcome and any mods you do, IF they are installed by the dealer, they will be covered by the warranty...my sales person told me that if i let them install a stage 4 turbo on my 07 si, and the engine blew, they would replace it free...cuz its under warranty.... put a smile on my face...hoped this helped....let me know if you got questions (PM me if possible)

Thanks for the replies.

The question now is does the dealer have any turbo-kits available for this car? That is, instead of my buying an aftermarket kit and installing it myself (which will most likely void the warranty) what kind of turbo-kit or FI does the dealer supply and who has had success/failure with them?

What if I feel like installing something on the car, I like to do my own work, what will the warranty say then?

Thanks and happy holidays,

- Dan
