New to civic

Hey guys...
My name is Kevin and i'm from Toronto Canada. Althought i do'nt drive or own a civic quite yet but i will be picking up a 2008 Civic SI sedan. I currently own a 2006 mazda 3 in 5spd auto.

Before i officially make the move i got a few questions i want to ask.

1. Anyone know if the 3rd gear is fixed on the 08s?
2. I have a double din DVD deck from my mazda and i want to know if i'm able to purchase a bracket for the civic so i can reuse the deck.
3. Do any 04 RSX type S parts fit the civic SI? ex. strut tower bars, mugen computer, coilovers.
4. Is it worth the extra money to get the CSX type S?
5. Do the CSX type S or the JDM type R coilovers fit the civic SI?
6. Is it worth picking up the aero package which is $1900 from the dealership here?

Sorry for all the questions but this is my first manual car and i'm so pumped and excited to get it but also need more info.

Here are a few pics of the car i'm currently driving.

Mods done

Injen Cold air intake
Koni adjustable shocks
Hawk HPS Brake Pads
Eibach Sportlines
Vibrant strut bar
Racing Beat Front and Rear sway bars
JDM 5Zigen Pro Racer catback
JDM Falken 452 215/45/17
JDM 5zigen GN+ 17x7.5
JDM Works tuner lug nuts
JDM GV front lip
JDM Autoexe grille
JDM rainguards
JDM stubby
20% tint
OEM winter floor mats
Prolumen 6000k HID low beams
Prolumen 3000k fogs
Mazdaspeed3 Rear bumper

Thanks for looking and answers. Feel free to give me some feedback. Thanks again

Welcome to the site. Nice looking 3 you've got there.

To answer a few of your questions, yes there is a bracket for the double Din. You can get them from Crutchfeild. The kit come s complete with a new face plate as well.

As far as RSX parts, shift knobs fit. Lol. Sorry, there's enough stuff out now for the Si that you shouldn't have to worry about coilovers and such from the RSX. As for the CSX, I'm not too sure but I wouldn't see why the suspension bits wouldn't work.

I would just get the CSX Type S but I'm stuck down here in the U.S. where Honda, in their infinite wisdom, never considered that option for us. They boggle the mind at times.

I'd try getting the Aero package later.

will your sedan be white????

I dont have an answer to all your question but as far as the transmission question I have a 2007 Si coupe, got it about 2 weeks ago, and havent had problems with third gear. I don't know if anyone has stated if they have problems with 3rd in an 08.
Maybe an 08 owner will chime in. But you will have many people complain bout the notorious 3rd gear.

First of all thanks for the warm welcome and thanks for the comments about the car. Currently my car is parting out and most of the parts are gone so its almost bone stock.
2nd that girl is not my gf (i wish) hahah but that is one of the show girls in importfest in toronto.

As for the CSX type S. Its $6k more then the SI and as far as i know the difference is front bumper rear bumper, front and tail lights, navigation, leather seats, heavier doors (= heavier car) fogs, and rims

And the civic will be white for sure because i love white that much.

Don't forget that the bolt pattern is the same for the Civic/CSX and your Mazda (your tire size is good too) if you're keeping your rims.

The CSX-S is a great car and many people were getting it because it was offered at a better finance/lease rate than the Si but Honda has now adjusted the rates so now it may seem a little less attractive...

Strut tower bars from the RSX won't fit (nor is it required on the Si)

IMO, if you're looking at the sedan, you don't need the whole aero kit, just the front and rear, the sides aren't necessary. Just look up pics of Berlinas 2k2's White Sedan...

BTW, your Mazda looks good!

I gona own a si sedan soon before christmas...
in my opinion....it's not worth to get a csx typ-s .... just the same engine as the SI!!!
well...you can change your SI conversion if you really like the look of JDM civic...
I gona lease my SI for 4 years...wait for a chance of US honda or Acura maybe gona bring the FD2 here after few yrs....let's HOPE!!!

Yeah, the CSX-S does have the same engine... and it's about 6k more... it also has heated leather, navi, XM, HID, fog lights, better materials, different suspension, Acura service, better looks, VSA, TPMS, those cool sliding lids on the console compartments, nicer wheels...

Theres more then you think in California. Heres in the Bay Area alone theres a couple turbo Mazda 3s (no not Mazdaspeed 3s >.>)

Edit: Just found a link to Mira's Mazdaspeed 3, man this things hot. Meet up wth her at a local meet. Auto Exe bumper, CF hood, and H&R coils on my Speed3!

reflash trip computer
I had a no start no crank no sound but have electricity in the car. Towed 3 times and they can't find out the problem.
Replaced starter solenoid
starter relay
new tranny because they didnt flash the tranny software properly
drive belt tensioner
drive belt
MAF sensor too short
air bag sensor light always come on

i think i clamined over $13000cdn worth of warranty cause the tranny itself was $9000 plus labor.

I also drove the speed 3. Its fast but its too fast and too much power for a FWD. 16psi boost stock. Traction control doesn't help either.

So i want to get away from mazda for a few years and try somethign new.
