Hello guys and girls, my Si

Hey guys, I've been lurking these boards for quite a while, but I've yet to post. I figured I would finally drop in and say hello now that I've purchased a 2008 Si.

It seems like a pretty cool community so, hello all!

I know these threads are worthless without pics, so I've brought a couple of crappy ones (it is all I have for now). In the future, I'm hoping to return with some where you can actually see my car, and at least adjust them a little bit. The camera we brought was not prepared to handle the dark and wet night we decided to take pictures.

P.S. I know some of these are taken in handicap parking spots, but I promise the Montagne Center (place of pictures) had been closed for many hours before I took these shots, heh.

Again, sorry for the pictures, but I definitely plan to put some effort into getting better, clearer shots in the future.

And feel free to chime in with opinions on what might make the car look a bit better (although I'm a big minimalist so anything I would do would likely be subtle things like maybe a nice set of rims).

Anyways, I'll stop rambling now.

Eh, honestly I have no idea. This is my first new car, and my first one I actually bought to have fun with (others were autos and strictly to get me from point A to B).

I've recently got a bit more into cars, so I wanted something fun but reasonable in price, thus the Si. I'm loving it so far.

As I said in my post, I'm very much a minimalist. I'll never do anything extravagant to it and I certainly don't want to do anything ricey. Tasteful mods are certainly a possibility, but honestly, I don't even know where to begin to look.

If you have any recommendations, feel free to speak up and throw a link to me. Any nice rims I could look at? Starting in January, I'll be working a job out in Moses Lake, Washington for about 6 months before I return home, but once I do, I should have a fat wallet and some spare change to spend on the Si.

Edit: If it weren't my car, I would have been confused on the color, too, haha. It's black. It's weird though, when the light beams on it at night, I almost see a blueish color in it.

that's cause is Japan black is considered bad luck, thus is why most honda cars that are black have some sort of pearl in them, and yes the NHBP is kickass with the blue pearl.

Thanks for the welcome guys, and I'm loving it so far. I have to admit though, unless I concentrate pretty hard, I tend to jump a bit when I shift into 2nd. I'm still adjusting to the whole manual thing, though I'm still enjoying it.

That and a lot of times when I take a turn I have issues matching the appropriate gear with the speed and I either send my RPMs through the roof or feel like I'm dragging myself down, heh. I'm getting better though, so hopefully it won't be an issue for too much longer.

Well, let's hope your ferret magic rocks. I've read a bit about the 3rd gear issues, but I'm not entirely sure what it is or how I'll know if I've been affected. I really don't need anything else hindering my shifting at this time.

Edit: On the rims, yeah I like the ones on my car well enough already so it's unlikely I'll change unless I just find something completely sick. It's hard for me to fathom really wanting to change anything, honestly. I really love the way the Si looks out of the dealer (all Si's, not just mine, heh), and I have the navi pack, so I really feel like I'm almost all set.

welcome to the 8th! I love the NHBP - have an NHBP Coupe myself. If your looking for a nice mod that is useful and not ricey than you should look into a projector retrofit.

I'm going to admit total ignorance here, and say that I have no clue what that is, haha. I'm an admitted car noob, but I definitely want to learn. Hell, I don't even know what I should wash my vehicle with. In my past years of driving, I really haven't cared much about my vehicle (a 99 Dodge Dakota) in the past, so I just Dawn soaped the bastard every time if I wasn't dragging it through a car wash.

I definitely am not going to do that with my Si.

A good line of products for beginners is the Meguires line. I use Zaino personally, and like you this is the first car i've cared to detail at all - I am very pleased with the Zaino products I have.

The retrofit - you know how BMW's and higher end cars have projectors and HIDs? The really bright white lights... well there is a vendor on this site customlightz who will take your headlights (gotta send them out to him) and for 300 in labor + parts/shipping (look at another 500+) he can retrofit those projectors into the civic headlights. A lot of people on here have them with great success and if I could afford it I would go for it as well.

Cool, I'll look into that (soap and retrofit). Thanks for the tips.
