please excuse the avatar for now... I am a new convert!
Hello,
My 1997 Jetta GLS has treated me well, with 197k mi... But, it seems I am one of the lucky ones. The time for a new ride is fast approaching and I think I have decided on the new Civic. VW's are not as reliable as Hondas, in fact, not much else is. I read a post here a few weeks ago from a guy who was going to trade his BMW for another, but checked out the Civic on a whim and was hooked and bought one. Now THAT is a testimony giving even more credibility to the Car-Of-The-Year award that the Civic won! Trade in your beemer for a civic !! WOW. I am glad that this forum exists, and wish I had looked for one while I was a happy Jetta owner... I still am, but its inspection sticker expires in July. I know it won't pass and I am not putting any more money into it. So, sign me up for an 06 4dr MT EX Blue! (can't justify the expense for the Nav - and am not interested in 'subscription fees' for keeping the data up to date. I would rather spend the money on an audio system.) Anyone have an opinion on the audio upgrades from Honda vs. aftermarket? Thanks for reading. I will post again when I take the plunge... bearsfeat |

Welcome. You definitely won't regret the switch. As far as your audio upgrades, definitely go aftermarket instead of buying Honda's overpriced and quite useless "upgrades." Are you thinking of switching out the head unit and speakers as well? Or just adding an amp/subs?

Im not sure if you were refering to me? But Yes the FACT why i decided to trade in my 02 BMW 325I for a new civic was the fact that Owner ship of such a reliable BMW is at a PRICE, and I wanted somthing JUST as reliable but without the high mantanance cost and cost for parts. But the reality is once i drove the civic around for a week. I forgot about the BMW. Honda really built somthing special!!! |

stereo upgrade... what to do?
Well,
I just want something that sounds good, surprise surprise... I guess I should take a disk to the dealer and ask for a key and give a listen to the stock system. Wifey says no money for audio system... an' if wifey ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. SOOooo, If I can convince my EARS that the stock system is as good as my Eclipse was in the Jetta (stock speakers and amp), then we will all be happy. I just know that the only factory systems so-far that I have listened to that are decent is #1 Volvo V70 (dk the brand) #2 Saab - Clarion. and #3 my VW - also Clarion. I don't really wwant to bounce down the street with (8) 40" subs, but I do so love clear loud music. Thanks for the replies and making me feel welcome. And thanks for the ceremony! bearsfeat |

Me 2 !
Hi, I'm a new convert too :) From a Mitsubishi Mirage LS Coupe... and now waiting for my New Civic EX Coupe to arrive to the dealership.. been waiting a lot...and still have to wait 1 or 2 months more.
Sorry i didn't make an introduction but i was waiting for the car (and pics ) but well btw here the EX Coupe comes just like the US/Canadian model except for the audio system wich is the same 160w as the LX but i've been making some plans to make that better.. i'll try the stock first and at least i'll use a LOC with one amp and my Kicker Bass. I'll be asking for some advices along the way. ![]() Thanks! . |
