I like the composition of this shot, but it could really benefit from a circular polarizer to cut down on all the reflections on the car.

I combined them in order to get a decent picture since the sky was so bland if I just used the one shot of the car properly exposed. I tweaked the hell out of the sky, used the shadow/highlight tool a lot to bring out the details and stuff, then adjusted the colors to get that really rich blue. The probably darkened it a bit to set it off from the rest of the picture. For the rest of the picture I mostly just did dodging and burning around the picture. Darkening the walls/street and brightening the car. Boosted different color values (mostly the red for the brick and made the white of the car really pure). Then I put on a very slight warm photo filter and adjusted the curves to make the contrast really pop. Then finally I put it through a couple runs of UnSharp Mask.

Here's another shot of that car

I've always been a fan of your pics (seen them on HT).

So are you just using a layer mask to combine the two properly exposed pics?

i like the reflections on the car especially when everythign else doesnt have a reflection.
a polarizer would probably only cut off the reflection on the hood anyway.

i finally bought a worthy replacement for the si. and the best thing is that i think the car looks better dirty, kinda has a muscle car feel. i absolutely love the 240sx, cant wait to upgrade the turbo and put my custom dash in.

hdr:

EDIT: why do my photos look so different on the internet? i had to turn down the saturation because the red looked way to bright and now it looks dull on the net...

If you ever find out let me know cause mine does the same thing. Looks awesome in all my photo viewing programs then I look at it in IE and its dull and has no pop. Nice pick up on the car.

did you "save for internet" or just save as and upload. That sometimes makes a difference.

I think it's just the compression Flickr and Photobucket will put it through. Unless you have some kind of dedicated webserver, you'll always have that problem.

can you not save it in lightroom(then open in PS) or export to CS3 ( or whatever photoshop version you use) then try the save for web?
