It is too bad I might head out to our local University on the weekend and try again. I doubt I'll get those clouds again.

Rpm2, can you share the basics on the technique? I understand one has to do bracketing exposures, however I don't have a photoshop program for the steps after. Is pshop required to end up with these kind of images or can they be attained with any other good editing photo software?
No you don't need photoshop. After I process them in Photomatix I use photoshop to sharpen them adjust contrast and brightness with a curve then do a little burning colors and shadows.

One day Micheal I'll get some nice shots of your car. Small groups of people is easier than large groups. Maybe if we ever get some rolling shots done.

First nice try at DHR..gotta look for a better contrast background, work on resolution, details, etc..

High dynamic range imaging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's an image that comprises of many images fused together. Prior to merging all those images together... all the individual images have different exposures to give off that "range" effect. Check the Wikipedia link for some more examples of HDR images.

i like the angle of this one. did a bit of work on lightroom, the usual contrast, shadows, temperature, vignetting etc..

Rpm2, do you use only the three bracketig exposures for your HDR images or do you take more like 7-8 images? If so, besides using a tripod, what can be done to prevent movement on the camera since the EVs have to be adjusted?

I used a tripod for my shots adjusting the shutter speed by 1/3 stop each frame. I took between 12 and 18 frames for each photo.

holy cow! 12-18? higher range right?
I see..so you just try to move the camera as less as possible when doing the adjustments.

Yeah if its on a tripod it shouldn't move at all but if not then use the alingment feature in Photomatix to line it all up not sure how well it works though.
