Wink Hello everyone! X-Dsm guy, converted to the Honda side.

Hey guys. This is Chrispy from CT. After being stuck on the side of the road for the 50th time, I finally gave up on my 1g + 2g Talon/Eclipse roots and have joined the dark side. haha. It feels like I'm reborn. Even though I gave up my AWD and 13 sec times, I'm happy I might FINALLY have some reliability, and be able to drive to work without worrying if I made a baseball sized hole in my tranny or walked my crank like a dog on a leash.

Oh well, so I got myself a new 08 Civic Si Coupe. Love the car so far. Still getting used to it but so far so good, and with 18 miles on the thing I can't go wrong. So honestly how is this board compared to the other sites I was checking out? No offense to anyone but I was on some terrible "ricey" forum last night, where one of the rules was don't fix peoples spelling or I'll hack your account?! Whats up with that? And it seemed like all the talked about was neons on there.

Question: How is tech posts on here? One thing about the dsm boards, everyone is always willing to help you out, or offer help. (We all break down). Well hope to get to know some of you guys out there.

Cya

welcome to the site....

as far as these boards go, I'd hope to say you'll gain a lot of help and info on mods and the car in general. Everyone always has their own ideas as to what "looks good", but I'd have to say that I've been really impressed with how members have modded their cars.

check out some of the ROTM contests
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=128

color specific threads if you feel like just viewing a lot of members cars without chatter in them
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=124

or "show us your best shot" thread - to get your car possibly placed into the banner of the site
Show us your best shot

Lot of great viewing material there. Welcome to the "ocho"

I'm curious to find out. Where is the TPMS in the '08 models? I don't know that I've seen any pictures of it yet.

Welcome to the forum, Everyone here is chill and willing to help. Honda ftw you can easly make it faster then your DSM. K series = one of the best 4Cylinder motors in the world. Good luck with it and enjoy VTEC.

Funny I taught it was a sales pitch. lol. The dealership here in New Britain,CT said I was the 1st with an 08 out of their place. I got an alabaster Silver one, basic, no sat, or nav. Paid 22,600 out the door.

About the tire pressure, it is similar to that shown, but will NOT show which tire is effected, just that it has to be checked. (What I was told).

Any specific thread or site I could learn more about these K series motors. Is this the same as in my buddy's 04 Rsx Type-S?

As much as I hate to admit it the dsm's (AWD 5spd) can be made quick and cheap.

Intake($100)/Exhaust($400 custom made) /MBC ($20)and your running high 13's. New turbo ($400), Fuel pump ($100), 550's ($220) and AFC ($200), your running mid to low 12's. So basically

$520 gets you 13's
$520 + $920 = $1440 gets you 12's

13.850 NA run

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/membe...ls&userid=3006

some good drivers have hit low 14's na with slips/documentation.

na - look into the hondata reflash for the ecu. It lowers the vtec engagement point, raises the rev limit, etc.
www.hondata.com

there are quite a few exhaust setups, headers/race headers, intakes from the major brands,

obviously to get into the kind of power you previously had - you'd have to look into forced induction. Nothing will be that cheap to mod as far as turbo/sc setups go.

you had those tranny problems too!?! I owned a 95 talon. I was driving through town one night, not even drivinghard and when i went to shift into 3rd it sounded like i ran over a glass bottle. when i let the clutch out i had nothing so i coasted into a parkinglot and discovered a large hole in my tranny casing! that sucked.

but welcome! this is my 2nd civic, si sedan and i love it!

When you visit other forums they usually rag on Civics, commonly refering to them as "ricers".... which is funny because they put the same types of mods (I/H/E).

I don't know what gives.
