From Si Coupe to Si Sedan!!!!!!!!!
Im not new to the Ocho, so this is more of a re-introduction.
I originally owned a FBP Si Coupe with Navi+Summer Tires. It was a great car. Handled great. Good MPG. I loved the interior. Overall it was great. Now, my wife hates 2 door cars. Probably because in Japan more people have more sedans then coupes. Here in America a lot more people have cars, which would result in more people owning coupes. Any who, she's been bothering for a long time to get a nice, 4 door family car. She's trying to trick me into having kids soon, that girl. I had the Si Coupe for a little over a year and, even though I loved it, I started seeing the convenience of the extra doors. I started looking at different sedans, because I was not a big fan of the look of the Si Sedan. Especially how the rear looks. After checking and testing many cars, I came to the conlusion that the Si Sedan fit my needs a lot better then the other cars. It has a better interior, handles great, engine feels better, 6 Speed is better, overall just better then the other around the same price range. Not to mention more reliable, for those who are thinking I could've gotten a MS3. I dont want to die so soon. So yesterday I traded my Si Coupe for the Si Sedan. The funny thing was that I did not wake up thinking I was going to get a new car. I believed that I would be getting an 08 in Oct or Nov, because I could not find an 07 FBP Si Sedan with Navi anywhere. So I was just killing time yesterday and decided to check Autotrader for the car. It showed that a dealer had a Si that met most of my criteria, but when I clicked on the car it did not have the Exterior Color listed. I hate it when they do that. I decided to give them a call and to my surprise they had a 07 FBP Si Sedan with Navi, which is exactly what I was looking for. I didnt really care if it came with All Season or Summer Tires because eventually I would be getting different shoes anyway. It came with All Season tires by the way. So I drove 31 miles to the dealer, told them exactly what I wanted to pay trading in the old Si, and left with the Si Sedan for $10 more then the price I was looking for. It was a good deal, considering what the payoff was on the old car. For $10 I was not gonna let the deal go. Impression: One of the first things I noticed was how much lighter the doors are compared to the doors on th Si Coupe. Especially for my puny, Japanese wife of mine. My driveway is like a small hill, so she literally has to battle with the door on the coupe to get it open its so heavy. Once I was inside I noticed that it feels a lot roomier then the coupe. The seating position is a little different as well. My wife thinks its a little higher. I adjusted the seat as close to the my driving position in the Si Coupe. I dont know if its me, but the shifter feels closer then it was in the coupe. Thats actually a good thing. The Mileage display also looks a little darker behind the numbers, which I also like. When I started driving I noticed that the shifter was not as soft as the coupe, but thats probably because the engine and the tranny haven't been broken in yet. The other thing that was noticeable was the steering was not as soft either, but I think it also has to do with the car being broken in as well. I could be wrong. The other thing is that the ride is softer, which I believe is a result of having all season tires, instead of the summer tires which are stiffer. Other then that the car feels pretty much the same as the coupe, which is a good thing. Im really happy with the car. Im glad that I stayed with Honda and the Si. I almost made a change, but for what I can afford right now and what I want, the Si Sedan fits almost perfect. I would have hated to leave 8thCivic. So to all the 8thCivic members, Hello Again!!! ![]() |

And to the OP, congratulations on making the absolute right choices. I drove a Si coupe on some occasions and the rear view over the deck just didn't work for me. Plus the doors were definitely more heavy and swung out farther. But that's the life of a coupe. Congrats! Sedans FTW! |

Reason#1 The MS3 with Navi is a couple of thosands more then the Si Sedan with Navi. Reason#2 The MS3 uses more fuel then the Si Reason#3 The MS3 Starts loosing power before 6k RPMs. Most of the cars I have had in the past rev to atleast 7.5k rpms or more. And you know a K20 loves to rev. Its very addicting. I love it. And the most important Reason of all is reliability. A Mazda is not a Honda off the bat. Also, I have seen too many MS3 owners go through the "Loose Screw of Death", in which an engine mount gives because of a screw and the engine caves in. The last thing I would want to happen is for the engine to cave in while I have my wife and kids in the car. So in conclusion, the Si is more affordable and reliable then the MS3. Regardless of how much faster the MS3 over the Si, all the other factors are more important to me. Does that answer your question? |
