I did it! New pictures...

Well I have officially been a member for a month now, just purchased a TW SI Sedan and have been debating what to do first. After weeks of contest that ended in a spur of the moment decision, my friend and I started our conquest. My associate otherwise known as an E46 Fanatic displayed a somewhat reluctant desire to participate in my operation. After several minutes of coaxing he finally agreed to help out only because this is my first car and he wanted to insure that I didn’t screw things up too bad. I must make this clear that we are in fact good friends, but fierce rivals nonetheless. His car well lets just say he got a big head start. He is a professional in every way, but I know deep down inside he fears the SI.
The operation began on 8thcivic.com on the DIY section. I have to thank 06blaksi for making such a great DIY. I decided to bring out the cook in me, and take those glazed headlights and turn them into a shiny silver dollar. The operation for the most part was flawless besides for a few hiccups in the road. I wanted that clean look and after hours of hard work it finally paid off. My headlights look great thanks to my good buddy and that amazing DIY article. As much as I wanted to do this, I never thought this day would come. I am what you call a scaredy cat. Hopefully my success will give others hope in achieving their goals on their cars.

PS: Baking my headlights in the oven was definitely weird, but wasn’t as bad as I though.

Here are some pictures…

Damn. If you can do it, I can do it
Ive been thinking about doing this for a while. Did you get any burn marks? Any spots starting to melt etc?
Hows the condition of the head light housing now? Still mint?
Any tips?

if this is your first time working on your car, like me, then its going to be a learning process no doubt. the best advice i can give you is to trust yourself. Make sure none of the edges touch the side of the oven, leave them in there for at least 8 minutes...and pry the pieces off from the corner. no melting at all...like i said, i encountered many small obstacles, but nothing i couldnt fix.

I've worked on my car before. I would say I'm very familiar with it. The oven though, thats another story.
Question, what settings did you set your oven to? Bake/Broil? How about the temp? Did you also use a thermometer to check the temp or just used the oven's temp dial?
I'll look up the DIY right now. I'm just worried some ovens maybe say 350F, but really its 370F, u know what I mean?

you only use the oven to heat up the glue up so you can pull the pieces apart, then unscrew the two nuts inside and bingo your set. I just pressed cook dood, im sure you could broil them though hahaha

Oh for sure dood, im going to tint the front windows in a couple days....new suspension/wheels in the future.

As far shutting down the bmw, he is scared because he knows im faster than him! Its quite funny to be perfectly honest with you, he's always been into looks...changes wheels every month it seems, new body kits, angel eyes, etc...but since i got my car well lets just say thats opened him up a little as far as performance goes...telling me how he is going to get a cat back exhaust and all this other shit...lol
