Nope. I am an old renter; I live in LA where it is cheaper to rent then to buy if you don't need a big place. But you don't need a home to get rich; if you were lucky enough to buy 5-10 years ago in SoCal you most likely made a lot of coin. But I doubt they will triple in price again the next 7 years. And in my line of work I can easily get a job, so I choose relocate every 1-5 years for work.

My other option is becoming a CPA.

A CPA is a boring job, it is not for everyone. Just take the PERL, Cold Fusion, Java, JSP, ASP, etc training. It's fun once you learn it and it's not that hard! I work in a computer related field so be sure to get some database experience/training too. If you pick this path you will earn a good living doing something you did for free as hobby. Your primary job does not need to be the perfect job for the rest of your life, just get into the field and you can move around from there.

50% True. Some things in the job market are Plug and Play, but most require a lot of custom work. I agree you don't want to become a computer tech who works at Best Buy. That is a mid level job, but not a good long term job.
Focus on CORPORATE web development, web integration of products, database design, corporate reporting, etc. There are plenty of jobs in the field that pay fair (75-125K yr.) It's not Bill Gates money but, it is better then most. Also, when first starting out get a TRAVEL consulting job. You can be based at home; they will fly you to different cities, pay for your food, your hotel, car rental, etc. It's a good life.
