Civic Noob...

Hey 8th!

So I have had my Civic for about 3 weeks now. I needed something that got better than the 14-16 mpg I was getting and I wanted something that looked good to. This is my first car and my first import for that matter.
When I turned 16 I drove this 82 GMC Caballero (aka El Camino) had a big ole 305 V8 with the HP #s of about 145...how crappy is that? I totaled it Sophomore year of college.

After that I inherited my Mom's 97 Ford Aerostar...sorry no pics...I drove that for about 2 years (I was on the east coast for year without...what a shame...)
Then my parent's more or less bribed me into sticking with swimming my final year of college with a truck. Here is my last pic of it with all its mods:

It was a sad day to trade it in after all the time and $ I had put into it but gas was just killing me with my commute everyday. So I made the decision to get some MPG and came home with this:
2007 Honda Civic LX Coupe 5-Speed

Only plan to do a few things to it...well at first I thought that then I started thinking more...
But my Big 3 are: Tint, Wheels/Tires and some better speakers.
(Then I started thinking about getting some drop coils since I have read 17s look better when there is a little less fender gap...)
So I hope to get some advice and help and hopefully meet up with you since I have no knowledge at all of cars since I just came from the world of trucks.

The first and easiest mod is to remove that front license place. Haha.

Welcome to the team!

Most cops ignore that. The only reason I got ticketed recently is that my back license plate was covered with a smoke gray cover. I liked that cover too -- it made the plate almost the same color as my Galaxy Grey! Flip your plate over though, if you want to keep it on, or get Passwordjdm's plate relocater.

Other than that, it sounds like you know what you want, so it'll be cool.

Sweet choice to ditch the truck, especially in Cali,...that shits popular out there. Ive had my 94 Camaro with out a front plate since I owned it, got one ticket and it was $10 bucks! Just take it off.

I have mine on like this right now, since I have to get my ticket squared away due to my plate infractions. LOL.

Ill be getting a second ride in a few months, a Bronco. Want a 4x4 since I like offroading and then for trips to the mountains for snowboarding rather have the 4x4 and ground clearance. But the Civic will be my fun get around town ride (the canyons to Malibu...still havent hit them up since i got the Civic...) and DD...

I'm at work currently, and stepping outside literally feels like walking into hot water -- it's a tangible thing. I also live right below where your truck's pic was taken if that was up the 39 HWY.

Welcome to the site!

I myself converted over from the truck world. I traded in my Nissan Frontier crew cab that had a 3" body lift and 33's for my SI. And before that I had a chevy s10, and a nissan hardbody. Needless to say, I'm very happy with my SI.
