Si Owner in Tulsa, New to the Car/Site
Hello to my fellow Civic owners. I just picked up my Galaxy Grey Metallic '06 Si on Monday. Was $19k and has 14,000 miles on it. So far I'm loving it. The handling, acceleration, styling, and quality are all beyond my expectations. My last car was a '95 Bonneville so needless to say the Si is a huge upgrade and just feels completely awesome every time I get behind the wheel. Add in the the growing after-market for the eighth-gen and I can tell this is a car I won't be getting bored of any time soon. I'm super stoked and couldn't be happier...almost.
The Civic has a couple of issues that I've noticed since Monday. For starters the previous owner modded the Si. The dealership mentioned this but assured me that the car was still under its original warranty. A quick peek under the hood revealed an AEM fuel rail as the only mod. It seemed like a weird choice for an only mod but I dismissed it as nothing. Later after finalizing the sale and getting the car home I noticed four sealed holes in the top of the manifold and it finally made sense; the old owner installed NOS in the car. I felt like an idiot for not realizing it earlier. I debated taking the car back but ultimately I'm enjoying it to much. The car runs fine too so I figure if something was going to fail it probably already would have or will within the warranty period. It's a little unsettling not knowing how hard the car was driven previously but I can only hope that the previous owner wasn't trying to run it into the ground. The other issue I'm having is a grinding a between 1st and 2nd on quick, high rev shifts. A forum searched revealed this to be a common issue but It's still annoying as hell and I wish there was a solution. The grind sounds like murder and it really embarrassing to have to explain to your passengers that no, you don't suck at driving stick, the car was grinding on its own. Besides that the car is everything I had hoped and more. The torque is fine by my standards and rev-hang doesn't bother me. This forum seems like a great resource and looks to be the best eighth-gen Civic forum around. Finally, I know you've all seen a stock Si before but I thought I'd include a few quick pics I snapped anyways. Excuse the dirty wheels. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by E.
