Sunday alone = Clay bar + Wax + Wax

I was surprised how many little imperfections were in the paint once I got started. The cars only a few months old……. Took a long time but I think it was worth it! I don’t have any pics outside because the time I got finished in was pitch black outside.

1. Wash with dawn dish washing liquid (to strip wax)
2. Clay bar
3. Meguiar’s Cleaner wax
4. Meguiar’s Gold Class

I will get better pics tomorrow.

I'm just curious, is this the first time you waxed your car since you bought it? and if so, how do you know it was waxed by the factory/dealership? If it wasn't waxed by them, wouldn't the dawn soap ruin the clearcoat? I'm thinking of using the same waxing and claybar product as you, and that's why I'm asking. I just don't want to mess up my paint by using dawn when i shouldn't have. Thanks.

every car that gets detailed from the dealer gets some type of wax put on it... and even if it didn't and this soap was going str8 on the clear it wouldn't be a problem either b/c the car didn't even get enough sun to do any damage (i'm assuming here...)

if he washed it, dried it, clayed it, then waxed it.... all back to back then it shouldn't be a problem...

side note: for those who don't know dish washing soap is great for removing all chemicals from the car... just remember to give it a nice wax after that....

When I say it's 4 months old... I mean it's four months old to me... It was waxed by the a dealership before I ever took delivery of it because they did a treble job(left wax every where). And I've waxed it several times since.

If your car is brand new; as in a new construction date, you don't want to use dawn dish washing liquid. Almost any kind of dish washing liquid can be bad for your paint. I only use it to strip coats of wax off . I have a procedure that I do that builds up close to ten coats of wax on the car. That's why I used dish washing liquid! Any other time you want to use a mild car washing soap.

I will start building the coats back up over the next few weeks.

P.S. ALWAYS WAX YOUR CAR IMMEDIATELY AFTER USING DISH WASHING LIQUID!!!

the pic you got shows a great job in the detailing...you can see the reflection of the supplies you used perfectly!
