So I never introduced myself...
I joined a month or so ago, and never made one of these so...
Hi , my names Tiffany, and im going on 16. I dont have a civic or even a car yet, but I like the new civics alot, they are very nice. :) I joined the site to learn more about the 8th civic, trying to figure out what car to be saving for. I would love to get the Civic Si but im not allowed to get my first car in manual. ![]() |

Hey Tiffany.
Keep working on that SI with your parents. My frist car wasn't allowed to be a manual as well, due to them worrying I would "street race" and crash or soemthing. In the end I wound up getting an Automatic LX sedan that I disliked so much, that finally my parents decided to give it to my sister and let me buy an SI sedan. I put about 7700 of my own down and I pay my parents back in installments each month (I just got it two days ago on saturday). Talk with your parents, and get a job and let them know you'll cover the difference in price between the one they want and the SI. Some things I told my parents (which are actually true).. 1) A manual is statistically a safer car - You concentrate more on your driving. 2) A regular base civic has trouble merging on the highway due to lack of any kind of power, and I've actually been bullied off to the curb when trucks won't let me merge on. No more in the SI! 3) Si = Better resale, interior and the price is right for what you get. Also be sure to mention the fact that an SI has LSD (so tires won't spin as much in a turn) and the fact that the new 07s have VSA, which was the thing that put my SI over the top and allowed me to get it since I had an 06 without it before. Good luck |

welcome! I don't have an SI either :)
Good call I Vtec, do you? I think what you should do is learn to drive stick in an old beater first to prove to your parents that you CAN drive stick, then I don't see any reason for them not to allow you to get a stick SI. |

Oh and "I Vtec, do you?" Thanks, thats great advise. The reason my parents dont want me to get a manual is their afraid I will have trouble launching at stops and/or wreck it. lol Oh btw, thanks for the warm welcome guys. ![]() |
