Well....my husband wrecked my '06 Sedan. We were on our way from Missouri to Texas to see our family and we got into a wreck in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was switching lanes because our exit was coming up and didn't realize the traffic was stopped for our exit and smashed into the back of a Jeep Cherokee. It had been raining too so the roads were really wet. If it would have not been so wet I think we had enough time to stop.
We were going 50-60 MPH before he slammed on the breaks. It was so awful. When it first happened I was so shocked and I kept screaming "YOU WRECKED MY F*!@$%^ CAR! OMG!" lol. I just couldn't believe it. We had just had the oil changed and it had a little over 4,000 miles on it. I was so proud of my car and couldn't wait to go home and show it off. It was one of the worst nights of my life. We had a car packed full of luggage and our pugs, Pickles and Peaches, were in the back seat too. Luckily they didn't get hurt. I had bought them a seat hammock that keeps them from getting into the front while we are driving and I think that helped cradle them. The Jeep was barely scratched. The front of my car pretty much went underneath theirs which is why the hood is so crunched up. We are lucky the hood didn't fly back and smash our windshield I suppose. The hood is so light on this car compared to the thunderbird I used to have haha. Also the air bags did not go off. Where are the sensors for the air bags? I thought they would have went off. I dont know if it is because my front bumper didn't really get it as bad as the top part where the hood is. The wreck happened late in the day so we couldn't have them tow it to Honda right away because we needed to get a rental that night and by the time that happened Honda would be closed and we had to have a way to get our luggage out of the trunk. So I had to tow it to a police impound lot first since they are open 24 hours. We had to ride in a police car to a hotel just in case we couldn't get a rental that night. While we were transferring the dogs and our important stuff to the cop car, our pugs got loose. Pickles almost ran across the busy highway but a wrecker guy was able to catch him. Then Peaches got loose and darted for the very busy highway. She ran past my car and I just knew she was dead after that. I thought I was about to hear a really horrific sound of her getting ran over. My husband and I were both running after her screaming "NO". Luckily her leash got caught under the tire and she wasn't able to move any further. We went around the side of the car and she was cowered underneath. I couldn't believe I almost lost both of my dogs that night...it was just so awful. I am just glad my husband and I (and our babies) are alive. I did get some really nasty bruises on the left side of my chest and across my stomach from the seatbelt. My car is now at the Honda shop in Little Rock being repaired. The damages were $10,500! Luckily our deductible is only $250. It should be ready by the end of January so now we are going to have to drive all the way back to Little Rock when it is finished. It's a 6-7 hour drive from our house in Missouri. Overall our vacation was so shitty lol. On our way back we got caught in the ice storm. I am so glad we didn't wreck the rental truck LOL. Anyway, Here are some photos of my car I took when we got to the impound lot to get our luggage out. They are kinda crappy because we were in a hurry and I took them with my camera phone: ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh and here is a Pre-Wreck photo: ![]() I want my car back so bad. I just loved my car so much and I really hope they do a good job on it for me. I was hoping they would total it. Has anyone else had body work done by Honda after a wreck? Does it usually look like it did before the wreck? Thanks Melissa Last edited by PixelStarFX; 01-14-2007 at 04:34 PM. |

Nope they didn't deploy!! I thought they should have but the guy at the shop told me that they didnt deploy because there is some silver piece on the front that did not get damaged??? Apparently that is where the sensors are? Then I heard the sensors are near the license plate? lol I don't know. I really thought they should have went off. |

I am so sorry to see this! I'm glad you guys are ok. I remember just a few weeks ago looking at your introduction thread and thinking how beautiful your TW EX is!
Don't listen to the people suggesting JDM/Si upgrades, they have nothing good to add. I'm surprised it isn't being totaled out. Maybe if the airbags deployed that would be a different story. Don't worry tho, everyone gets into a rut sometimes... ![]() |

Melissa, sorry to hear about this. You had a great looking car. Hopefully the body shop does good work. It'll never be "the same" as before, but with good work, it'll look great.

You're doing it wrong!!

Ouchies. Glad you two and your dogs are ok.
The crash may not have been severe enough to set off the airbags, but then again airbags are supposed to go off fairly easily and probably should have in your case. Either way the fact you did fine without them is good. Deployed airbags cost even more to repair. Hope it is back on the road good as new soon. |
