Man, I love Asanti wheels...however I don't like paying 2k+ for them Props to you!

How much does it cost to have the lowering springs installed usually? I don't think I will be tackling that project myself..lol! Does camber control how the tires are tow in/out? What does the camber arm do and do you need this?

They control the camber angle of the wheel. If you were to look at the left wheel from the rear:

/ / that would be negative camber
\ \ positive camber
| | no camber
I think....

If you camber settings are off, then one part of the tire touches the road much more than the other, and it wears out much faster. And it wont handle as well. A camber arm allows you to adjust the camber, because the stock one isnt adjustable. They are pretty simple to install if you have the right tools.

Yeah, I thought it was along those lines. I don't plan on installing springs myself....lol...is it expensive to have someone install? Does a body shop do that??

Thanks!

I have the SPC camber arms (pretty much exactly the same as the Comptech ones) and front bolts... all off ebay for $270. I figure if I have tires 20mm wider than stock, I might as well go to the effort of having as MUCH of that on the road as possible

Doing the springs yourself isn't that big a deal... my dad and I did mine in an afternoon, and neither of us have ANY previous experience. There is a DIY on here somewhere... I think it may be in the stickied DIY thread.
The only hang-up is that you need a 17mm socket with a hex head to be able to remove the bolts on the top of the front strut towers... I didn't have one, so I just bought a cheap 17mm socket and welded a big-ass nut on the end. Voila

Hex Head???? I used a socket and ratchet

It is easy tho as J-Ro says. I changed the rear springs on Galaxy~Si's car in 30 minutes. Took me couple hours to do all 4 of mine and 11 dollars for a spring compressor which is only needed for the front springs. Shops near me gave me prices from 180 to 300 which was too much money for me. I also went and got the Skunk2 camber kit

Really? You got the nut off without having to hold the bolt with an allen key? Okay, well it's even easier than I thought

I think I got lucky cause the car was so new. I had no problems removing my sway bar links either that time but when I went to remove it again after 10k miles that was a different story...lol

I just used a regular socket also...on my car, and when we did it on ayenoc's. Maybe I am just lucky.

Is it just me, or does lowering the car kill the headlight output distance? I and adjusted them all the way upwards, but they still fall way short of where they should be illuminating the road.

Is the front lower than the rear now?

Front is always lower than the rear. If you look at all lowering springs you'll see that the drop in front is more than the rear. This also holds true for stock parts

I did mine last September which was almost a year after I got the car... but I think that it may have been dumber than that... I probably just looked at the bolt, saw the hole for an allen key and assumed I needed it

As for the swaybar... ugh... there's a few nightmares. Problem number 1 was that Progress didn't ship my swaybar with the non-Si adapter parts, so I had NO idea they were required... plus I went through about 3 gallons of WD-40 trying to get the stupid rusty endlink nuts off

I initally didn't realize that the front is always lower, even stock. Here's a picture that makes it apparent, since it's almost a full front view.
FYI, the rear camber has been fixed (the guy set it to zero the first time around for some reason).

No, it is not always. Please do not assume it. There is a lot of aftermarket springs lower equally for the entire setup.

If the front is a lot lower than the rear, the headlights will be pointed closer to the hood. It will be closer than the OEM setup..!
