Forgive me because the RX8 is a nice vehicle, but you traded for an RX8 just after they recalled all years? Um....

Personally, I find the Mazda RX-8 to be one of the, if not the, most attractive car on the road. I wanted one so badly, but I wanted all the bell's and whistles on it, and to be honest, I just couldn't afford it.

That, and my aunt had an RX-7 and had nothing but problems, so the rotary concept scares me (yet stragely fascinates me).

That, and the gas milage averages around 11-15, from most owners I've talked to.

But I don't judge you, if the Si looked like the RX-8 and cost the same, and I knew I'd have something that was solid (the flooding, reflash, etc issues with the RX-8 scared me too much), I'd have done it in a heartbeat.

Great choice. Only thing I would've changed would've been the color (Winning Blue for the win).

Many of the mags have remarked about having to carry oil in the trunk because they're running through about a quart a month.

Congrats and good luck with your new ride.

Velocity Red Mica on the RX8 looks sweet.

I was VERY close to getting an '8 earlier this year myself but went for the Si instead, I hope yours is good to you.

Marc- IIRC the latest recall is about the engine vacuum testing properly as far as oil is concerned, and if it's not within spec. then they (engines) are sent to Mazdas remanufacturing facility. A lot of 8's in the hotter climates were having problems.

I'm sorry, but the RX8 is fugly. Too many tacked-on fender flares, scoops, and grills. Not my cup of tea, in fact, not even my sip.

I love the way the RX-8's look and in fact was dealing hard on one (5-spd. 237 hp if I remember right) about 7 months ago. I spent quite a bit of time on one of the RX-8 forums learning about the car and just reading people's feedback. I test drove it several times and to be very honest was NOT impressed at all.

The gas mileage, combined with the fact that there is a real risk of flooding the rotary if you do something as routine as backing out of the garage and shutting the engine down, AND the fact that re-sale on the RX-8 is absolutely terrible, kept me from pursuing it.

Having said all of that, I honestly think it's one of the best-looking cars on the road...very unique. I stare everytime I see one.

Enjoy the new sled!
