Angry Parked hit and run

So last night I decided to go to the races and I parked my car in reverse. As we were waiting for the races to begin some dumb asshole enters the parking lot and was going pretty fast. I see him lose control or try to drift in his pos boat car that he was driving and boom! Hits my 06 habi si on the right corner of my front bumper. I was pissed and ran towards the accident and as I ran towards my car, the jackass backs up and leaves So a few of my friends chased his bucket down and catch him at a 7-11. I get there mad and ask him for his insurance and info. Turns out this jackass didn't have any insurance, no license and it wasn't even his car. So because my Si is in my parents name for insurance reasons, I couldn't call the police because my parents insurance would find out that I'm driving the car + I was at the races so in the long run would be more expensive than going through insurance. Plus the deductible is like 500 dollars and I know its not even 500 in damage. So because it was infront of a 7-11 I couldn't inflict my own damage on his pos or his face! So i let that jackass leave and now i got this to look at

Anyone know if this is fixable? And if it is, how much am I looking to spend?

Yea I was pretty sure I would just replace the bumper, but on collegehills and hondapartdeals they have them for 186 (which I shouldn't have to pay out my pocket ) but they are not painted the factory color. Any one got an estimate of how much a dealer would charge to paint a new bumper ?

I am goiong to go ahead and guess that it is going to cost more than 500 to fix.

you "let the jackass leave".

by golly, your far too nice of a person. im no bodyshop expert but that looks like over 500.00 worth of damage to me. either repaired and new paint or a new one and paint.

heck.. i would have gotten his name/address and demanded he cover the cost to repair it if he didnt have insurence. I really dont think id be able to control myself if it were me and i had caught the guy.

Agreed w/ shawn-o. That looks more expensive than 500. I'd be a little more insistent than that.

If you're not on your parents policy for the SI then you're driving without insurance and that's illegal in most states. See how that works, you do something illegal and you can't get the cops involved when something like this happens.

You're right though, you shouldn't have to pay to fix it. That jackass is the luckiest sob alive.

+1 take off the bumper and try pushing it out. then get the HFP front lip. the area of the damage looks like the lip would hide it.

yea thats a lot more than $500 for repairs. When i had similar damage to that area of my car it was 1500 for paint, bumper and labor, and then another 1200 for the ac condensor, radiator hoses, and belt tensioner that got damaged.

If i were you id beat the shit out of the guy. The bumper seems like its pretty flexible, im sure you can just take it off, and pound it back into shape. It should be fine just touch up the scrape mark.

i don't see how your insurance will go up if your car was parked with the engine off and it was unoccupied. it's definitely 100% the other person's fault, so you should've just taken down the license plate number and reported it to the cops. the owner of the other car will be notified.

PM CivicWithNav, i think it was him who had a dented bumper like that, he pulled it off, let it sit in the sun for a couple hours and then it kinda popped it self back into place.
