DIY Glove Box Light
The lack of one really got on my nerves the other night when I had to use my cell phone light to find what I wanted in my glove box at night. I did my share of searching and rather than do this and take credit for it, here's the thread I found on the Honda Element forums: DIY: Glove box light - Honda Element Owners Club Forum
Anyone care to do their own method? Found this too. DIY: Glovebox Light Slowhite Anyone have any bright ideas? |

Found this on Singapore website
S'pore Honda Civic FD Club :: Log in "DIY: Glovebox Light Reply with quote Ordered a glovebox light switch from a civicfd-sg forumer Auanwho flew in from Thailand. He has other stuff as well, can PM him if you are interested. Installation was simple. 1. Drop the glovebox. Procedure is the same as installation of aircon filter. Go here to see if you are unsure about the glovebox removal procedure. 2. Install the switch. The holes are already in the dashboard. No drilling required. But you have to stick your head right in the see it. Auan Dancing did it for me. The pic below is not very clear and excuse my fat finger Mr. Green 3. Connect the wires. Pink to a hot wire and black to ground. Viola! Lights! Pic below not too impressive because I took it under bright day light. But you can still see the light on my tissue box. Above can also found in my blog: www.slowhite.wordpress.com" |

OK, I have no more picture now. But it's an easy DIY anyway.
Check the circuit below. For the positive wire, you can connect to the dome light positive, trunk light positive or power for head unit...... And about the GND, please connect to any gound point on car body, just find a screw nearby. I'm using the LED similiar to the one in the circuit and stick to the top of the glove box. And the most important thing is to how and where to fix the micro switch. It's like the previous pictures, but make sure the micro switch is pressed when you close the glove box. Use glue or any adhesive to get it settled. I think you can easily find all these materials.

if you want something cheap get one of those lights at your auto store that meant for dashboards...like its activated when the magnet is not on the light...so like you put the light on the top and the magnet on the bottom of hte dashboard...so when you open it up it lights up

I'll post pictures as soon as i install all my goodies. - JDM CTR push strat button - JDM CTR hazard switch - Honda courtesy light kit modded with red leds (I wanted the switch). - Strutking footrest - JDM CTR shift knob - JDM CTR shift boot - Acura CSX center console - Acura CSX beverage centre - Acura CSX chrome glove box handle. Can't wait for everything to come in. |
