DIY: Strutking Pedal Set w/ Step-by-Step & Pics

This DIY is to cover mainly the MT R18.
However, the same process applies to the automatic.
Some will think this mod is too easy to bother with DIY,
but you never know, some may want to look at instructions with pics to make sure they are doing it right

For those who have the Si looking for a DIY on the dead pedal only:
DIY: Strutking Dead Pedal Install - 8th Generation Honda Civic Forum

Enjoy!

You need:
  1. Power drill
  2. 7mm socket wrench
  3. Ratchet with 7mm socket (optional)
  4. Phillips screwdriver
  5. Some cleaning supplies (optional)
  6. 15-20 minutes (may vary)
  7. a box to catch the metal pieces from drilling =)

Before you drill the plastics, I'd like to ask you to go easy on them.
Keep the drill straight, you dont want the hole too big for the self tapping screws
If anything, drill a small hole to 'track' the self tapping screws and let it do the rest

I found it easier to mount the metal piece onto the rubber and put all the studs through the holes,
then place them on the pedal. You can try putting the rubber piece on the pedal then the metal piece over it.
See which works better for you.

Hope this helps some people

Talking

Great DIY, it helped me a lot.

I did, however, find a great surprise when I took off my pedal covers:
the holes were already there on both pedals! I had to use the drill to auger them out a bit, but they were in the right places. I guess the factory ran out of regular pedals that day and put the SI pedals on instead, neat huh.

You're welcome!

Good surprise! My brake pedal had the wholes too but the clutch didn't. Same deal as you though.
I had to auger the holes a bit more just to make sure

Any pics of your new install? haha! Post pics of your car too! Welcome to 8thcivic.com

Great DIY thanks again...I just finished mine I only suggest that you put something below the pedals before you drill to stop the "metal dust" from getting into the carpeting. a box with a lid works great......

The car looks complete...thanks STRUTKING
