DIY - Install 2007 Euro-CTR Shift Boot

2007 Euro Civic Type-R Shift Boot install
----------------------------------------------

Part #: 77298-SMT-E01ZA
Install time: 30 mins.

Pre-Work:
-Remove shift knob
-Pull up on the aluminum-look shifter base by grabbing from the inside (left and ride inside portions) -- boot assembly will pop off.

New boot next to old boot & assembly

Another pic, notice it uses a different clip inside the boot to attach the the Euro-R shift knob

So... unscrew the four screws from the stock assembly, remove the staples holding the boot on the the assembly and remove the stock boot.

Remove the staples from the Euro-R boot and detach the little loops, the CTR boot will pop off.

Pull the CTR boot over the stock assembly (its a bit smaller so it might be a little tight). I cut a few slits in the extended pieces of the CTR boot and slipped them over the sections where the screws go. I also taped up some sections inside the boot, once you have it secure reattach it to the aluminum-look shifter base.

What it looks like after its re-attached.

From this point you can re-install if you want, but i didnt like the clip on the CTR boot, so i replaced it with the one from the Stock Si boot.

Cut the zip tie off and pull the clip apart.

The two pieces removed from the CTR boot. (wont need these again)

Remove the stock piece buy cutting the zip tie that's holding the stock Si clip to the boot.

Slide the new clip into the CTR boot, as low as you want...the lower you install it, the less "extra material" will bunch up when you reinstall the boot).

Instead of using a zip tie, i used a baggie-tie type of tie (pulled it tight around the clip and twisted), when i used a zip tie you will see a bulge from the little nub where the tie goes through to tighten.

Si clip installed on CTR boot.

another view of Si clip on CTR boot.

Reinstall and enjoy!

If you have any questions, let me know, i know my descriptions werent that great...and i should have taken more pics... Either way, this boot is HOT!

yeah it def wasnt cheap...you might want to hold off until the CTR Sedan boot is available... no modding necessary and will prob be cheaper!

Got anymore pics? Looks like it's all squished together once it is on. Basically is the same leather that is on the Si steering wheel right?

it is squished...i actually like it like that...depending on how you install it you can get rid of some of that if you want. The main reason it looks so squished is because of how low the circuithero knob sits.

you've got to swap mounting plates... you definitely have to do some modding...but its pretty simple...

Does it attract dirt as badly as the stock one?

nope, stock shifter... the reason it looks so low is because of the Circuithero knob...it threads down real far...and completely changes the way shifting feels!

You can get that material on www.augerresources.com, and red stitching for $29.
